activesync explore question

Hey everyone, I just upgraded to the axim x51 from the x50. My initial impressions playing with the device is I really love the improved one handed features. Especially browsing on file explorer and having the "up" button" I think will come in handy. Be interesting to see how it works with some of my favorite programs.

Ok but my question for now is about the explore part in active sync. It seems to recognize my device, the "My windows based mobile device" icon is there. But when I click on it, it seems there is a lot less folders than I had with the x50. I don't mean programs I downloaded, but the default ones, like "windows" for example. Can someone please help me, let me know if I need to do something? Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

Mike

There is a second "My Windows Mobile-based device" when you click on the first one. The rest of the folders are accessible from that list. I haven't had any problems finding anything from there.

Thanks DeeCee52, but mine doesn't show that. I'll give more details this time in case that helps. When I first hit "explore", the first screen I see shows the following icons:

"My windows mobile based device"
"Business"
"My music"
"My pictures"
"Personal"
"Templates"

If I click on "My windows mobile-based device" I see:

"Databases"
"Application data"
"ConnMgr"
"dochive"
"docprof"
"documents and settings"
"my documents"
"program files"
"sd card"

Seems like something is wrong. Should I call Dell? I thought it would be easier to check here first. Thanks again for any suggestions. Thanks for trying Deecee.

Can anyone help? Nothing has worked, I have uninstalled and reinstalled active sync. Disabled firewall. Reset computer. Hard reset PDA after downloading A12. If I can't view the files on the pc, I am not going to keep this thing. I am not spending 200+ dollars on something only for it to work half-assed. Dell support was useless, this site is my only hope! lol

When you view your files on the ax, do you see the windows folder? Do you have an alternate explorer program such as Total Commander or GSFinder+ (both freeware)? If so, check it's properties, make sure it isn't hidden or read only. That's all I can suggest.

Hey that actually helped. I went to options on the explore window, and clicked to show hidden files, and now I can see everything. My question now is why would they be hidden? This is a new axim, and I haven't downloaded anything on it. Anyways glad I can finally see them! Thanks DeeCee, you rock!

Glad to help. Don't know why they would be hidden. I know they are marked as system. Anyway you should be good to go.
