what IkeHiker told you is good, here's some more...
Check for other access points in the neighborhood.
You can do this with WiFiFoFum software (free). If your access point has an SSID
of "Dlink" and your nextdoor neighbor has his with SSID "Dlink" your Axim may be
trying to cell hop between them, and with a weak signal it'll drop / reconnect / drop...
It should only try to cell hop if the SSID matches, and using the default
one is not good (kinda like crossing streams in Ghostbusters).
Check the firmware in your Dlink (go to thier web site) and if there
is a newer version I'd recommend upgrading. Almost all of the Dlink units had
problems with random dropping in the early versions of thier firmware.
Who knows how long that unit was in the warehouse, they drop a version every
3 months or so of the firmware. This may correct the problem.
I would recommend setting up you access point with
WAP/PSK (TKIP) (not WAP2 or AES)
Enter a private key (the Private Shared Key part of WAP/PSK) on all systems.
This will stop the cell hop cause it would have to match SSID and PSK.
If you neighbors are all on channel 6 (usual default) set yours for channel 1 or 11.
This will limit the interference from other APs.
