Hello all, I hope someone can help me. I foolishly upgraded my X50v to the WM5. Everything was fine (except I had lost my built-in storage). I managed to load most of the programs I had on there b4, making sure all are compatible with WM5. The screen froze after I loaded the last program, (sorry I can't remember which program it was) so I did a soft rest.
My Axim now only loads to about 75% and then stops, whether I do a hard reset or a soft reset the problem is not solved. Please don't tell me I have to contact Dell for a replacement because I don't have a warranty. My X50v was working perfectly b4 this apart from the odd reset here and there or the occaisional hard reset.
Thanks to all in advance for any help or advice.

Also, it's a common problem. Sometimes, it works if you keep hard-resetting.

Thanks for the help guys, but I think I've killed my PDA!
I've tried numerous hard resets since last night but to no avail. I also let the battery run down overnight to see if this would help, but it hasn't. Its still doing the same thing then I get a message say to do a hard reset to fix a memory problem.
I did do the Filesys fix but couldn't copy and paste it into the Windows\Start up folder, so maybe this is the problem. Maybe its stuck trying to start up and if so can it be fixed?
All help welcome once again.

hi, in my case i have an x50v w/ wm5, when i do a soft reset while a program is running, the unit creates another cf card directory. if you have programs installed in your cf card it will not find them. if you are able to progress wherein you can use file explorer to delete the cf card directory and the cf card2 will revert back automatically after a soft reset. good luck.
You need to use the SD image loader to either reload WM5 or downgrade to WM2003. There is a sticky thread that explains how to do this. Look at posts towards the end of the thread to find the files you need. I think the links on page 17 but not 100% sure.
Yeh i had pretty much the same problem yesterday but thanks to the image loader soution i have de-bricked my x50v!

Hi all,
Thanks once again for all the help, but I think its had it now, (let us all bow our heads and give a minutes silence for KSMITH's X50v [as was my units name])
It won't power up anymore. I phoned and asked Dell for technical support and they know about the problem of the Dell blue logo screen. Unfortunately in my case my X50v is out of warranty, so they are unable to offer a replacement. I was given a name and number of a firm who can possibly repair it. So watch this space....

Just use the SD-image loader to repair your axim. -.-
Yeah.. We already told you to try this method several times.

I had this exact same problem. The only way to fix your Axim is to use the SD image loader. Just because its not turing on does not mean its broken. As I remember I had to put the axim in my cradle without a battery (no battery cover either) then I was able to get the SD image loader working.
I used the image loader and IT WORKS!!!! Thank you all sooo much for your help and support. I couldn't try it any earlier because I had no way of loading it onto my SD card (I don't have an SD Card reader). I was waiting for the delivery of a USB SD card. It arrived this morning...hooray!!
I bow down to your superior knowledge :approve:. Thanks again.
