x51v info for a newbee

I am a college student and I have been wanting the x51v for about 6 months to help me stay organized and work on assignments on the go. I finally have almost all the money saved up but I was wondering if dell has announced a new upgrade like a x52 or something in the next couple of months. Also, i was thinking about buying off ebay but I have noticed people talking about different editions, roms, etc.
Does that stuff matter? If so, what does?

You will have access to all ROM updates. Anyone can download them. A12 is the latest...not necessarily the greatest (although it greatly improved my x51v). I personally would go more on the side of caution and purchase it from Dell with a warranty. I started with the x50v and returned that several times (I've had 6 x50vs and 2 x51vs) for various and asundry reasons. I'm not sure if the ones you'll get on eBay will have a warranty. Otherwise...happy Aximing....

I don;t think so that dell will realease new pda soon. Now x51v works good with A12. so I think theris no need. Rumors are that they will release UMPC at the end of the year or the next year. So to my mind dell only will make a present for x51v users for christmas: WM5SE :)

The X51(v) is the lates pda Dell will sell. Dell is stopping it's PDA line.

I bought my x51v from ebay and it's been working great so far (knock on wood), though if I were doing it again I'd get it from dell.

I bought my Axim at eBay too. I had to contact Dell because of a HardReset failture. They asked me about the Service Tag of my Axim. After i told Dell the desired Tag, Dell told me that the device is registered to another person (it was a company in this case). After i told Dell that i bought this Axim from that company, they registered this Service Tag to me. So there are no problems with the warranty for me.
