rom A11 details

Hey guys,

I got my x51v a few weeks ago and it came with A11. I tried searching for info on A11 but the search function doesn't take "A11"(probably too short). Anyway, I was wondering if someone could give some details on this rom version. Also, What are the differences between A11 and A12. I remember reading that there may be no difference between a11 and 12 and no need to upgrade. Anyone have any input?

Also read that on our site but can't remember where. I know the person said that between the two there is very little difference and that the upgrade would not be worth the problems some people are having. I'd keep the A11. :approve:

lol we probably read the same post. I can't find it either. Its kind of silly that I can't search for a11 but thanks for the quick response. I'll probalby stick with a11 for now.

As i wrote in the other threads, A12 is the public version for A11, they are both the same.

Duke, I think that is the thread I read about it. My brother just got his x51v last week from Dell and it came with a12. Is Dell now sending them out with A12 instead of A11?

Probably........I recieved one last week also.........check in System Info under Settings.........next to Rom Version it should say.........mine says A11(06090600) and according to Benace Guide, A12(06200600)........so they are very close. What the differences are I can't say......I had major problems with the A12 update on 2x51v's so i am not going to even try to do it!

It seems that Dell updates the OS Roms in new Axim's frequently but doesnot issue an OS Update unless Microsoft makes changes or something significant happens like a globally seen bug that needs a fix.

Maybe the new units with A12 are actually returned units that Dell does an upgrade on to get them to A12.

Probably not as I don't think Dell can sell these as new units, but I could be wrong.

They can't sell them as new but if you have a warranty issue, get what you get...
My Ax is in great physical condition but I'm having a ton of soft reset issues and the battery latch opening issue (even after doing the nail polish fix).
I'm still a little hesitant. "Life is like a box of chocolates..."
