Worried Activesync Application Error

I have tried synching my x51v using AS 4.0, 4.1 & 4.2 on a laptop Dell D820 (one week old) using USB, IR & BT but when i connect I instantly receive an error "Activesync has encountered a problem and has to shut down.....", then DrWatson PostMortem Debugger chips in with a similar message after you click dont send on the Activesync Applition error.

I have uninstalled on many occasions and reinstalled in normal and safe mode but it doesnt work. I am able to sync on a desktop with ease (all machines have XP Prof SP2 installed). Both pcs have more or less the same software except that the laptop is a work machine on a domain. I was able to sync now and again on the on the previous work machine a Dell C840 last month (same softwares). The D820 Laptop recognizes the x51v and connects but it does not complete the partnership, I am up to Mobile Based-Device #8 in Device Manager under Network Adapter because on the many installations(is there anyway to prob delete the previous entries and let Device Manager start over at Mobile Based-Device #1). I normally delete the mobile device under the connection settings before i try to reconnect.

Any help would be really appreciated.

ive found all app errors (0x000000001) go away if you:

step 1: get activesync 4.2 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync42.mspx

step 2: (and the one that fixes them even if you have AS4.1) install the giant honking office xp service pack in Windows Update... EVEN if you only have outlook installed (darn you microsoft... some of us are on sub broadband ;) )

update: this site might let you just update outlook... i used the windows update office xp one (53 meg) and it solved a variety of 0x0 errors.

Thanks for replying, I have tried 4.2 over and over and I still receive the error, i have not been able to create a successful partnership and I have the latest updates for XP Prof SP2 and Office XP installed.

When u connect with activesyn it normally prompts you for the Folders you want to sync. I receive the activesync application has encountered a problem and has to shutdown error before reaching the which folder to sync stage.
