Album Cover Display when playing WM

When loading music from Windows Media, how do you get the album cover to display when playing on your handheld? I have WM10 on my desktop and connect to the net when ripping CDs for album details. Not a major problem, but I'd like to know.

If you transfer music to your device using WMP10 on the desktop, the album cover should get transfer over automatically. Unfortunately, it doesn't work reliably.
The surest way to make it work is to manually put the album cover as a file named "Folder.jpg" in the folder where your music files are. This also means that you can only have 1 album cover per folder.

This works not only for Pocket WMP, but also for the desktop versions of WMP9 and WMP10.

Get any picture (go to Amazon.com and get that Album art), rename to Folder.jpg and store within the folder where you store your MP3s.

when I rip cd's, wm creates a folder, that folder has the album pic on the folder.
then when I copy the folder to my sd card, and play the music on my Axim, the pic automatically pops up. I can't find a file with with the name folder.jpg

I'll have to see if I can add that folder and see the cover art for those that don't have a cover.

Hi All,

If you use iTunes, then you'll be glad to know that the latest version of my SyncMyPortable (formally known as iTuneMyPortable) program has now been updated to include a new "Set up album artwork for WMP Mobile" setting in its Advanced Preferences dialog box. When this setting is enabled (which it isn't by default), SyncMyPortable will automatically extract the embedded album artwork out of your iTunes audio files and save it as a JPEG formatted image file so that the album artwork displays properly in Windows Media Player Mobile.

If you don't already know, SyncMyPortable is a add-on for iTunes that allows you to synchronize the music you have stored in iTunes playlists with any portable audio device that can be accessed as a Mass Storage Device (i.e. a device that appears as a drive letter in My Computer/Windows Explorer). For Pocket PC devices such as the Dell Axim, this means that you have to use a program like Softick's Card Export II or a card reader/writer so that you can access the SD card as a Mass Storage Device.

If you're an iTunes fan like me, SyncMyPortable works great at getting your music onto your Axim so that the album artwork properly displays in WMP. :approve:
