Funny, I used to think that my kids liked getting my hand me down electronic toys. Since I own my own business, I was always kinda trying and tweaking. The hand me downs were still better than what most of the kids had. It wasn't until my baby was in high school that she said she just wanted something new -- and you know what she's right - the thrill of the box!

you yeah, you're a good mom, goes without saying. and yeah you should give him the new v. instant karma

Go for the V.. espessialy for gaming cause it has the intel 2700g (it also has bigger internal rom and VGA out option)
On the european site 'the 624 X50v model is even cheaper then the 520 X50 (€373 / € 380)

It seems like you are a very nice mom. However, if he doesn't take care of his toys, I wouldn't get him any more expensive stuff.

I originally bought an x50 520 and regretted it considerin that the x51 series came out a week later and then I also found out how incapable the non V models are but now thanks to excessive replacement problems I am now on the x51v and I love it!

I would definitely say the V, the screen clearity is easier on the eyes. It's more like looking at a computer, than a regular PDA, which is something all of my friends notice about mine.

And definitely spring for the accidental coverage for 3 years, if not for the peace of mind that it can be replaced in almost an instant if something happens to it.

V with the special warrenty so if he drops it, no issues.

I wish my mom know what a x51v was.

My mom cant even go on a computer and double click on mozilla, and load up foodtv.ca , instead i need to print out all her recipes.

Your a great mom. Definitly get him a new device this way he has warrenty.

If it is just the PDA it sounds expensive.. I payed $358.95 for my x51v and free shipping. Here is the link http://saveateagle.com/aximx51624sapp-v000.html

I would go with the V version. Why not get a V version for yourself aswell and sell the old one on ebay? :)

Truth be told, you are a great mom regardless of the "toys"... remember, i know of your life ... your heart and soul goes into your family.....

....so i suggest what DeeCee mentioned...you get the new one, BUT...put your old one in the new packaging, plastic, twistees, styro, the whole nine yards...best of both worlds...he's got the newness factor AND a great machine and you, my well deserving IBFF, get the new one, which will be put to much better use in your hands! :approve:

kinda sneaky, but i like it. you may lose some karma points but probably works all the way around. that is if you took care of yours. I got a refurb sticker if you want.
