What are the registry keys. Searching for the keyword LIGHT dosent reveal anything in terms of a backlight setting. I want to compare my reg values.

I am using A11 and have that problem too.

It appears that the problem is not caused by soft reset. I use spb backup daily and after its reset, no problem at all. However, if I manually full power off, it will reset the dim timer. Manual soft reset seems no problem too.

As I seldom full power off, this problem is not fatal to me but still annoying.

(I use one minute auto dim, if that matters.)

I just tried a soft reset on mine after changing the setting from 1 minute to 15 minutes and it stays where i set it, 15 minutes. I set it back and soft reset it and it again stays at the new setting. It sure sounds like some software program?

I have an X51 with A12 and have mine set to dim after 30 seconds. I just timed it and its about right on.

Got the same problem. I used the workaround to just disable the auto-dim...

How are you doing the soft reset? Poking the hole in the back or doing a full power off? I've noticed that these two methods don't produce the same results with regards to certain settings.

hole in the back. I will try a full power off. I would have thought that both would flush the ram.

hard reset and it works and restore makes it stop working so my conclusion is that it is something to do with a program I am running. now to figure that out. Also had the date issue where it was resetting the date to 2005. hopefully it is the same program that is doing both.

Do you use spb backup? I am suspecting it somehow related to spb backup.

One observation is, I selected "Automatically reset after backup" in the scheduled backup and every reset performed after my daily backup can restore the dimming config but not for other manual soft resets and full power off.

You are probably correct with your assumption. I changed the settings just like you did. Did both a soft reset and a full power off. The settings stuck to where I set it (15 minutes). It's probably a software problem and not the ROM version as some suspected. I'm still using A06.

Found the solution!

Disable WisBar before changing the dim time. This solves it!

Hi deursen, thanks for the tip... I don't have wisbar, but as mentioned earlier in the thread I suspect it is linked to SPB Backup when setup for scheduled backups.

However, I have tried disabling the scheduled backups and even removing the SPB Backup link in the startup folder, but the resetting of the dim-time to 15 seconds is still happening

Anyone else with some good tips?

zhaoyun, can you maybe explain a bit more about what you found out related to SPB Backup? I am not sure I understand it, and not sure if you have found a solution or not.

Thanks!

No I didn't find a solution yet. As I have in the above post, I do scheduled backup everyday and set the "Automatically reset after backup" option so that it reset after backup. I have no problem reseting this way (i.e. the dimming config is kept). However, for manual soft-reset (pushing the hole at back) and full power off (with a notification and confirmation), the dimming config got reset.

Therefore I suspect spb backup either created this problem or knew how to solve it. :)

In any event, the mortscript fix shown in another thread could stop your pain, though not healing you directly.
