Cannot connect by tapping on connection icon
I have installed Widcomm Bluetooth stack and successfully created an Internet connection through a Bluetooth phone. However, when I tap on Connection icon in the taskbar, I get the following options: "Turn off flight mode" (even with Bluetooth on - only WiFi and Bluetooth switch it to "turn on"), "Settings", "Hide" and this: "To connect to either the Internet or work, set up a new connection in Settings."
Of course the connection is set, it is selected as default...
My X3i allowed me to connect (via IR) right from there! Now I need to start Opera or mChat to connect...
Am I the only one upset with this?

Have you searched the wireless communication forum? I found a posting there to help me set up my connection. I have Cingular and I believe there different settings to use for each carrier. I am still using the BT manager that came with pda.

I'm not sure what you are asking, but yes, through the connections page, you have to say which connection you are using. It is an extra step, but since I most often use wifi or BT to the desktop, I appreciate having to specifically select my phone connection.

I have set up the connection, and I can use it. But I'd want it to appear instead of "To connect to either Internet or work..."
P.S. Sorry for the image quality.
P.P.S. Yes, I'd appreciate moving the thread into Wireless forum.

Did you get a solution to this? Aside from being long winded going through settings to connect each time, it is easy to catch delete on the menu.

I use my Axim X50v to connect to the Internet via a bluetooth phone. Your screens look a bit different than mine. Whereas your connections screen says "Bluetooth", mine says "My ISP". This is either because of the new Widcomm stack or you have an X51v (which probably has different config screens). Try this:
- Go to Start > Settings > Connections > Connections. You should see the heading "My ISP" with options for "Add a new modem connection" and "Manage existing connections".
- Tap on "Add a new modem connection". Select "Bluetooth Dialup Modem" for the modem. Follow the rest of the prompts. You should also bump up the baud rate to 115200.
Hope this helps :) .

Alantdc, Is your x50v PPC2003 or WM5? What is the reason for using a baud rate of 115200 for Bluetooth connections?
I have tried various combinations of Bluetooth, SD and CF slots modem. I can't get the Connectivity speech bubble to change.
Is it possible to create a shortcut that dialups up on a set connection?
Cheers, Anders.
