x51 won't sync - have tried lots of fixes

My x51 started saying "connecting" and never did - after several months of working just fine through the USB hub. I read posts here on the site and I have:

tried direct connection into USB on laptop
deleted the device in the device manager
deleted and installed AS 4.2
let Windows try to install new hardware
did a soft reset
tried to connect through AS "Connect" - Device not found
restarted the computer several times

and I am at a loss - can someone point me to a fix on the aximsite or any other help?

Jim

As already mentioned, make sure you don't have a firewall issue.

I recently had a problem where after ~8 months with no issue, I was only able to connect as a guest. After trying everything you described, I realized the problem was on the PDA side. I did a hard reset and was able to sync again. Unfortunately, I didnt do a backup after installing A12, so it was another 3 hours to install all my software. If you have a relatively recent backup, a hard reset is no sweat. Good luck!

Before I hard reset and try to sync....

I backed up all data to my SD card. Ready to hard reset. After hard reset, do I just follow set up like I did when I first did when new? I have AS 4.2 on my computer from download site.... should I delete it and use the original install disk?

If everything fails, try to figure the approximate date it started having that problem. Uninstall 4.2 and reinstall AS version that used to work for you. Do a system restore (if you are using XP) and set the date (restore point) a day or two before the problem started. Good luck.
