I have had my X50 for about a year. About two months ago it started randomly becoming VERY slow--as in it takes several seconds to respond to anything I do. Not all the time, just sometimes. I cannot correlate it with anything major that I did--no software was added around that time or anything like that.
Any thoughts or can I provide more information that might help in a diagnosis?

Thx.
When it does slow down, what were you previously doing? or doing at that time?
Are you seeing any pattern developing from your usage prior to the slow down?
When it does it, what does it show the processor speed is set at? For example at the moment on my x50v I have it on auto and it shows current speed 104mhz. Maybe you have it on auto and thought you had it on maximum performance. I would suggest the next time you experience a slow down, check the processor besides doing the suggestions posted above.
Mine became "slow" but I'm not sure what triggered it. I've noticed that it is on the "wrong" time when I turn it on, and it takes 5 or 10 seconds to get to the right time, then it works fast. But if I wait some seconds, I guess if the time has changed during my pause, it may be slow again. I'm wondering if an upgrade to the A12 will fix this. However mine is an X51.
Hae you tried clearing cache/temp files/cookies in Pocket Internet Explorer?
Also, do you use the Switcher bar or 3rd party utility to close programs? Does a soft reset help?
Cleared the cache - no change
I just hit the 'X' in the upper right to close programs
Soft reset helps for a while. Did it and it corrected the problem, but then after about 10 games of Bubble Breaker, it slowed down again. Soft reset corrected it, but I should not have to keep doing that should I?

What I was doing varies. Sometimes it is slow right at startup (even when it was running fine when I turned it off), taking several seconds to register the PIN. Other times it gets slow while I am using it. I have tried to find a pattern, but can't.
Can you tell me where to check my processor speed?
Thx to all that are trying to help. I really appreciate it.
Question about hard reset...I know I will lose data, but will I also lose programs that were either installed by Dell or by me? Can someone point me to a tutorial on backing things up?
If you do a hard reset then all of the your programs will be erased. There is one way that you will allow you to get all of your programs back. Its called a back-up. You can make a back-up by going to start/settings/back-up and jsut make a back-up. Make sure that you put your back-up file on a sd or cf card otherwise it might get erased when you reset. Good luck.

If you don't have a program like magic button all you're doing is minimizing the programs, they are all still running until you soft reset. Next time you get a slow down, go to Settings->System->Memory->Running Programs and look at the list that is displayed. If you see running programs in the list hit "Stop All" and see if that clears up your slow down.
I've seen some posts saying that if you back up programs, and do a hard reset, you end up with problem doing restore, and they suggest just reinstalling programs. Any more info on this?
If a soft reset fixes your problem, then it's pretty clear too many running programs/processes is causing your slow-down. At this point, I don't think you require a hard reset. Just soft reset then use the Switcher bar or install Magic Button, vbar, etc as was recommended. And no, I would not recommend a backup since it would be backing up the problem.
I forgot about how a back-up brings your problem back after hard reset. Sorry. Yeah, do what Gigi says and you should be alright. Thanks again GiGI for that save...
