WOW ya that would work but too costly ($400 to $1000) I was hopping on tapping into some jumpers in the Axim plug or even if I had to open it up doing that
Absolutely unbelievable! I can't even imagine how many people would have bought something like this when the Axim x50v first came out. Had you mass manufactured it, you would easily have made some serious money. Wow.

How did you get the serial input to connect directly into the dock station? I want something similiar but not with all the usb and audio. I was looking how to get the serial input and power at the same time. Can you give more detail on that?

At PDA bottom connector you have USB CLIENT, SERIAL, VGA OUT and POWER IN.
See the pinout:
The problem begins when when you want to use three or all four PDA bottom ports. There is no adapter out there. Probably Aximizer is the only one! :approve:
You must also know that RS232 port is only partially implemented. SIgnals are TTL LOW levels and do not meet RS232 standards. Port must be complemented with an external circuit. Dell adaptor has circuit inside the connector, I have no idea about other adaptors. Also that circuit must be powered, I have no idea how Dell adaptor solvs it. You also must know that Dell adaptor only wired signals TX & RX, no CTS nor RTS. Aximizer cirtuit is self-powered when 5v or 12v are applied, it also has RTS/CTS signals. See the schematic at the link at first post.

Wow! :approve: What a wonderful gadget... I'd find most of that very useful indeed... Both as desktop and carputer...
What OBD software do you use? I'm about to acquire a CANScann and it would be great to be able to use that with the Axim! :D
I use a cheap adaptor that only works with VagCheck (for PDA) and VagCom old versions (for PC). Still with VagCheck I have a lot of problems and I only able to run few tests. This is because mi car protocol uses 10400baud that does not meet any RS232 standard. Vagcheck does some sort of low level programming to get that speed, but with poor success at my PDA, it seems to be CPU speed dependant.
I am to buy any adaptor based on ELM chipset. It provides the right interface to communicate with the car and true RS232 to comunicate with computers. Adaptors based on ELM323 are only for OBD-II, but ELM327 is multiprocol. You probably need the last one. See: http://scantool.net/
Search also at Ebay "elm323", "elm 323" or "elm327".
Using this sort of adaptors you will find a broad range of software to use with. Most of them are listed inside Ebay auctions.
This is pretty cool.
There was a guy that made a screen cover for their Axim and posted pictures; lots of people wanted one, so he started making and selling them. His work was also, one at a time hand made; but he didn't have to create any boards or solder anything.
I think he fizzled out (his cover was called bullguard, you can probably search for it here).
If you are thinking of selling here, you might try to contact him to see what happened; he might have some pointers for you.
If people are seriously interested, you might have people pre-order, to give you some funding to order parts you need and get rolling.
I'd agree that you could probably get something happening if you just do the kits, and the buyer puts it together based on instructions.
If someone feels thay cannot assemble one, you might find some here that could put them together; and then they would get a cut.
You might even make the bottom connector a plug in for different handhelds, and you would slide in the connector for an Axim or Ipaq or whatever.

Thank you, for the input.
I got the web: http://www.bullguardcovers.com
I am going to contact them for ideas.
I will post here any news.
Thank you again.

Do you work for NASA? If not, why? :)
The Aximizer is ingenious! You should sell them. You have the best mod I have seen - period. Great job!
