This is absolutely beautiful and I have looking it over for a few days. I had a few questions for you though. What is the purpose of running the audio through a pre-amp circuit? It seems that as long as you don't push the external audio system too loud, then everything would be fine.
Are there any special requirements for hooking up your usb devices? Drivers? Do any large hard drives work with the CF card? What about using mice and keyboards? Do they simply plug and play?
Is the usb hub self or bus powered? If you were to use a self powered usb hub then I would think you could hook a portable 2.5" hard drive. What about adding on a battery
Any thoughts on adding in an integral hard drive to the sleeve?
Again, I would like to say that you have done a great job.
See my post #142 and referenced ones.
I use USB HOST with Ratoc supplied drives with mice, keyboards (just english and japanish layout supplied), USB memory, SD to USB adaptor and USB HD (Only one mass storage device at a time. Only FAT partitions can be used with WM5).
USB touchscreen works with eGalax driver.
See this thread for USB webcam: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=140786
HD's eat a lot of battery. If we add a HD and a large battery we probably get a UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) :approve:
How large of a FAT partition can be used without going to Mobile 5.0?
I do not think it has more limits than FAT partition itself.
Now I am using a small HD of 40Gb, but previously I was using a 160Gb HD. But I did not try a partition of whole HD (I do not know if it is possible with FAT32) because I was experiencing with several mixed partions FAT32 and NTFS. All FAT32 partitions were recognized as Disck 1, Disck 2, etc. I remember there were a partition of 100Gb.
I have been searching the web for any level of solution to add TV Video output, a whole unit, some schematics or just a good integrated circuit chip.
Most of circuits I found are computer (PDA) settings dependant, they require VGA Hsync at 50Hz for PAL and 60Hz for NTSC, also interlaced mode is often required.
I would prefer a commercial unit, to avoid interferences and any other sort of problems and for fast integration. But all units I found are too expensive.
Curiously, I found best solution at this Aximsite Bigbob thread: X10 VGA to TV video sender for $30!
It is a wonderful unit just for $29.99. As can be seen at links provided by Bigbob, VGA to TV circuit is an independent module. Because I would be interested in that small part of the system, I contacted them to ask if they could sell a big set of just that module and all what I get is: I would have to buy “thousands”
Because Bigbob provides also the link to schematic of that module, I still could integrate it at my motherboard. Circuit is based on IC FS401, I have also found IC AIT2138 with similar features.
