Hi, I am trying to get the audio out signal form bottom connector form axim x51v. is it possible? because I can not find any audio signal on any of the pinouts!
do I have to give some signal to activate it? or was it not implemented on this devices?
but I have found one of the car holders with the speaker so it should be possible. but I do not know how!.
please help. :)
regards!
You got the right answer from Hoggie3 at "X50V pin layout?" thread:
There is no way to get audio out from bottom connector :rolling:

Yeah,
I know that. but perhaps sombody smarter then me can emulate or activate some of the unused pins to get the signal out through them! :) such thought. :)
Afarre! I really wish someone could market your product here in the States. I don't have the skills to make an Aximizer myself but think you have an awesome product there.
The schematics for the audio preamp refer to 12v or 12/2v. Does this mean it doesn't work with just the 5v car input?
I took this circuit from somewhere and it was powered by 12v as shown. I did not modify it because it was to be used in my car and I always connect 12v to keep PDA charged.
But tou are right, those 12v are used through a voltage divider by 2, so you can directly power the circuit with 6v and remove the voltage divider. I have not tried with 5v but sure it works.
If you try please let me know the results.
Now I am moved from home, but I can give it a try on weekend.
Are you going to build your Aximizer implementation?

I'm going to make a stab at it, but not with all the same parts. I'm going to leave out the serial port and the 12v input support. Instead, I will try to include an FM transmitter instead. My car does not have an Aux Input to connect the axim to the speakers, so I'm going to use a digital FM transmitter and tune my radio to it. The transmitter also include a temperature sensor with a small LCD display, so I will try to incorporate that as well. I'm going to build the audio pre-amp and use 5v and see what happens.
My only question is whether the values of the resistors would change on account of using 5volts. Any thoughts?

Your project has been inspiring, by the way.
I think no changes are required.
Just do no use the voltage divider circuit (the small separate circuit at right top corner of preamp circuit). Then you can apply 5v directly to the points labeled with 12/2v. Those points originally get 6v but I am sure it will also work with 5v. If I can I will try it this weekend.

afarre.....you tha man.
How much do you want for making me a aximizer ?
I'm NOT skilled enough to make one myself :( (will probably destroy all parts I'll try to solder together)
P.M. me or mail me plz :)

Sorry for the delay, I have been out and offline for several days.
Sorry also about building Aximizer, but mine took me more than one month for designing and building. It was also made from several "fortune" parts canibalizing broken computer parts I had.
Commercializing it has also been widely discused in this thread but finally I decided not to do it and make all useful information available to everybody.

wow, that looks like it could meet anyone's needs. Just wondering, it looks like you somehow wired a CF card so it could communicate between possibly the Axim and external storage. How hard was that? Were you able to get the correct pinout and didn't you have to write your own drivers for that?
Ouch nevermind. I think I read that you used a Rotac connector (139 DOLLARS!!!!) for that. I was hoping someone found a solution to that lol.

Aximizer just pack all together all external devices you can connect to Axim. You can do it without Aximizer, in fact I did it before building Aximizer, just think about it:
You can add a bottom adapter that provides USB Client (for desktop), serial port, PowerIn and VGAout. The problem is I have never seen it, I have seen several combinations of 3 ports but never all 4 ports together in same adapter.
Axim serial port is "partially implemented" it means it must be complemented with an external circuit, but this circuit use to be built-in the adapters you can buy. You just need to make sure about that.
Then you can add a CF USB Host like Ratoc or Solar Express.
Because Ratoc or SolarExpress only provides 1 USB port then you can add a USB HUB.
Tipically USB HUBs are self-powered. They can be used self-powered or not. To avoid USB devices taking power from your Axim it is better to use it self-powered which adds one more device to this setup (Ac adapter).
And finally you can connect the Axim headset output to any stereo device.
Once you have this setup you get same Aximizer functions. You do not need to add any other driver than those provided by your CF USB Host.
The problem is:
You got 4 wires hanging form Axim bottom connector, some of those (like VGA) are very heavy.
You got 6 wires and 1 device hanging from top PDA, that is:
Audio wire hanging directly from PDA headset connector.
USB wire hanging from CF witch has 5 wires connected to it: 4 USB clients and powerIn.
Belive me: it leaves to be a hand held device, it becomes a monster.
