Only two of those three pair of signals can be connected to RS232 circuit because MAX232 or MAX3232 ICs do not have more internal drives. Connecting handshaking lines RTS/CTS or DSR/DTR is up to you. Usually none is required. Dell serial adaptor only wires RX/TX. I am wiring RTS/CTS.

If you still want to wire all six lines then you need to use
MAX238 instead of MAX232 (both ICs defined at same datasheet: http://www.ortodoxism.ro/datasheets/...220-MAX249.pdf)
or
MAX3237/MAX3241 instead of MAX3232 (all three ICs defined at same datasheed http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX3222-MAX3241.pdf)

NOTE:
MAX3232 is a replacement for MAX232 that better holds high baud rates.
MAX232 costs less than $1, MAX3232 costs more than $4.
MAX3232 can be powered with 3.3v or 5v (use capacitors of 0.1uF when powering with 3.3v.)
3.3v can be taken from PDA pin 7 , you need to ground pin 5 OR 6 to excite that PDA power output. With this setup you serial port is totally handheld, no dependancy from 5v/12v inputs!!!!
excellent, thanks for the extra info.

afarre i've found one site where is shown one scheme to build a VGA/PAL converter with 20 components, one of them is the converter IC (AD724) and if we don't use the included power supply the size of the converter could be less than 2x1 inches.

The link is this: http://pwp.netcabo.pt/pscoelho/vgatv.../LC-AD724.html and includes the schematic and all the necessary to build the converter.

Is possible to modify the converter for NTSC output, but the page's author doesn't say how and is necessary to get the AD274 datasheet to know the way to modify the design.

I hope this could be useful for a new version of Aximizer.

Greetings.

Very interesting.
It needs less components than you said because +5v power supply is not required. I believe it fits in spare room left at Aximizer motherboard.
It could also be fit inside an external VGA to VIDEO-TV adaptor. 5v would be provided via VGA connector. I think VGA pin 9 is never used by spec. Adapter could be of general porpouse if adding a 5vIN plug.

I will give it a try if I found all comonents and some free time :)
I have to decide the place to better fit it, built-in Aximizer or as external adapter.

What kind of LCD is that in the car you have? Is there a website or anything? I really like that concept. BTW - I would definantly buy this too, the only problem is the CF USB converter; Isn't there another way to do it?

Also, how does the touchscreen interface with the axim? I know that you used a VGA cable for the video, but what about the screen taps?

Here you have the link to the place where I bought mine:
http://www.pclloret.com/product_info...products_id=80

Ratoc is the only one out there. It seem to be an existing product:
http://www.twin-paradox.com/products.html
But it has been unfineshed for years. As far as I know, it still does not exist.

Touchscreen interface is USB, see the video when I show the bunch of connectors. It was the main reason for me to buy Ratoc CF. It is the only way to put TS to work.

This is a good question that would have its own thread.
X51V has a couple of chips Infineon HYB25L256160AC-7.5 of 32MB each. See:

It is supposed to work if replacing them with a couple of Infineon HYB25L512160AC-75 of 64MB each.

I have no idea how much they cost and where to take the Axim to replace the chips because they are BGA format where all pins are hidden. A very special device should be needed.

Wow!, very useful link :approve:
I understand they just replace HYB25L256160AC-7.5 chips by HYB25L512160AC-7.5 ones, as I said.

One question though ,
How did you connect your Axim to the USB hard drive ?
I guess I missed it.
Axim has installed a Ratoc CF USB HOST.
USB HOST is connected to Aximizer USB HUB input.
Aximizer USB HUB provides 4 USB conectors:
HD
Touchscreen
Car front panel SD slot
Car fron panel USB slot
