Icon3 Finished my jacket with VGA, RS232, USB hub, car charger, audio preamp, ...must see!!

After a lot of work and time I finally finished my jacket like magic box with following features:
  1. VGA out
  2. Serial port with circuit for TTL to RS232 signals conversion.
  3. Car charger
  4. Input for 5v Dell power supply (includes protection against connecting 12v and 5v at a time)
  5. PDA USB client connector.
  6. USB HUB x4 (powered when applying 5v or 12v)
  7. Audio preamplifier with double format output (RCA and mini-jack connectors)

I took plenty of pictures of all building details. I am planning to publish my work at my web page currently under construction.
Here you have a selection of pictures of my final result

Nice work :)

[edit] presumabely the audio outputs requires a 4 pole jack in the top of the axim, or have you found audio outputs on the multipin connector?

You have two connector formats for audio output:
RCA (red / white jacks)
Stereo jack exactly the same PDA uses for audio output.

Btw, the preamplifier circuit i has inside is this (user: "I", password: "agree"):
http://www.k9spud.com/vwcdpic/devel/...mp-module.html

I decided to include a preamp because PDA sounds very lower than radio in my car when connected to car stero aux input. Preamp equals all volumes: radio/cd and aux-PDA.

I did not think about that.

I have used this car holder as starting box and I mouled the rest.
http://www.pdamods.com/proddetail.as...A11CRXDLX50MNT
The unit cost me €45.00 euro including shipping costs.
Unit cames with car charger circuit and X50/X51 connector, so I did not have to buy those components.
Rest of material (RS232, preamp, connectors, wires, etc) could be less than €15.00, but I used also several parts from broken computers I have.
It took me 10 days of my vacations, not bat to be a prototype!.

That is outstanding afarre! :approve: Even for a prototype, it looks great!

But I thought that the Axim had no USB Host ability, so how did you impliment this into your project?

Using Racoc CF USB host.
Picture shows whole external jacket/PDA connections: USB host & audio input.
