Hard reset failed, now what?

I was planning on selling my X50V. I tried to do a hard reset, but when the screen came up to press the contacts button to clear memory or press the mail button to cancel, nothing. It does nothing at all now. I removed the battery, hoping that would do it, but it keeps going to the same screen. Activsync does not recognize it in the cradle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, hoerman4

Are you pressing the hardware buttons and not just tapping the screen when it shows the pics?

I did press the hardware buttons, and nothing. I probably didn't leave the battery out long enough. Any idea how long it could take? Thank you, hoerman4

What is the hardware test, and if it involves a sledge hammer, I think listing it on Ebay would be out of the question!

IT'S ALIVE!!!!! Looks like removing the battery and leaving it out did it. It reset to new condition. Except, now the hardware buttons do not work. Do I need to turn them on somewhere? Thanks, hoerman4

Glad you got it fixed, but for future reference, you can remove both batteries and it will clear instantly (right? I knwo hte X5's batteies can both be removed --- and hte bakcup battery is NON-RECHARGEABLE so it's best not to drain it)

X50v doesn't have a second battery you can access. It's buried inside the case. I believe that the internal "battery" might just be a capacitor, not a battery, and that if you leave the removeable battery out for over 30 minutes, the X50v will have everything reset. I'd give it an hour or two, then put the battery back in.
