Yeah it's a really good case (I never use the belt clip, can't speak for it), it has saved my X51v countless times... off the desk onto the floor, down a flight of concrete stairs (i.e about 15 steps), out of my coat pocket onto the ground a few times... It's also protected it very well on bivouac in the bush. Good solid case. Combined with the camera bag it sits in (accessories etc) when not in use in travel, im pretty confident of its safety. Except for the falling out of coat thing. Hmm. Good work PDair!

It's really not just the PDAir cases but anything with a belt cllip. When I first got my Axim I was using the Rhino skin case and had the exact same experience. I was walking around campus and suddenly heard something fall to the ground. I came to find out that I had not tightened the screw enough so decided that this was my own fault. I also had repeated falls when my hips (ok, so i'm a little chubby) would press on the belt clip and set my Axim free. After this happening several times, I gave up using the belt clip and now put it in my pocket.
I had the same thing happen with my first Axim and the Rhinoskin case. It was a scary moment walking back to my X30 that had just fallen and than got kicked while I was walking. It went sailing across the room and landed amid a bunch of hardware. Scary.

Ouch! I have heard this happen too many times before (usually, they are not so lucky), and I decided to play it safe. I always keep my axim in my pocket!
I think a hardcase is to prefer before softcases when it comes to pressure and things like accidentally trying to shut a car door on your PDA, but when it comes to falling, a softcase will probably provide a softer impact. There's hardly any padding inside the PDAir, but of course a hardcase does spread the impact force over larger area.
As I said earlier, a lanyard or similar is probably to prefer as a backup, or first line of defense.
Rhinoskin has a beltclip??? (my X5 rhinoskin doesn't --- havn't gotten my X50 Rhinoskin yet) And I've always kepy mine in my front left pants pocket or in my (zipped) inside jacket pocket. I woun't trust a beltclip.
I have to wonder how PDair cases compare with Rhinoskin, I'd always heard Rhinoskin was the best case period...
and @ mphayvanh:
Why use an armband? just put it in your pocket and use Bluetooth headphones/headset (whole reason I own a BT headset lol!)
