Aximsiteactivesyncicon I beat Active Sync

as anyone knows that has used AS for more than 5 minutes......it has problems. and in an either post i had a problem because i moved my axim from one computer to another. first it wouldn't connect to the computer, AS would just stay on Connecting. firgured out it was the firewall, disabled that and it connected.

now the only problem was that it wouldn't tranfer any of the contact or calender data from the axim to the outlook. very frustrating. so i did what most people in my situation do.......i hard reset. and apparently to make the axim transfer all the data to outlook, it had to start fresh.
:approve:

i'm not sure if there is another way around my problem but it seems solved for the moment.

Stupid Active Sync

Simply moving the Outlook PST file from the old PC to the new PC worked pretty well for me (and was necessary anyway to save my emails etc.). ActiveSync warned me I was synching with a second PC and it just plain worked.

Is there any purpose in having an ActiveSync Forum on Aximsite?

Probably not. You mean there is one?

I personally think that having an activesync forum is a waste. I never look at any forums unless it has X5?? in it. I dont want to keep going up the tree and checking each forum (there are lots)

I always go to Today's Posts, or if I am signed in, to New Posts. Both bring up all the posts in all the forums.

Today's Posts only shows those threads with activity today.

New Posts will only show those threads that have had activity since the last time I signed in.

And it is easier to find answers that are already here if the posts those answers are in are made in the appropriate forum.

On the other hand I virtually never go browsing for posts. I subscribe to the forums I am interested in (ActiveSync wasn't one of them, it is now), then read the daily digest. If a subject line catches my attention ("noob question" or "help" don't usually do so) I follow the link and read the thread. If the thread looks interesting I subscribe to it.

BTW having (kinda) defended ActiveSync earlier, I just spent an hour on the phone trying to explain to a relative how to synch a spreadsheet to the PDA while preserving the original in case Excel Mobile doesn't support some of the features used in the spreadsheet. Synching is about the only thing I miss from the Palm days (and that was only thanks to Dataviz, not Palm themselves).

There are probably as many ways of using the forums as the product of forums by forum members, not one of which is "right" or "wrong". ;)

Yes, Documents to Go. Sigh. It was really quite nice, wasn't it? I hear that TextMaker and ClearVue both make good "Office" product sets for the PPC platform. Sad that the original vendor does not.
