It's been almost a year since DELL released it's "wm5 upgrade" onto an unspecting public. During that time they have neither acknowledged the problems or release any kind of a fix for the problems most updater's have faced. At the VERY least they OWE us some info on this. Third party conversation with "techs" and "support" personel aren't worth the hot air and company line info they purport to represent. What we need is OFFICIAL word on a fix, and maybe an apology for putting the customers thru hoops to replace the device or "fixes" provided by the cummunity. Maybe MR. DELL himself should speak, or the head of the mobile deptarment. NOT coming clean only makes things MUCH worse ( as in I WILL NEVER BUY FROM DELL AGAIN"). How about DELL?? You read these forums. DO you have the b***s to fess up?? Or has the mobile dept. manage to keep Mr. DELL from knowing the truth??
They know.. they just don't want to do anything. If it wasn't for the fact that wm2003se on an x50v is such a wonderful combination i'd be upset. I've been done over worse by Toshiba, Sony... Palm....

Yes I am aware of both projects. Apparently DELL isn't. Either that or THEY CAN"T READ. FIX THE PROBLEMS.
This is just a sympton of a larger one; namely coperations now serve the stockholder who wants a investment return yesterday, and not serving their employees or customers. As long as companies have this kinda mindset, they won't care. No LONG TERM vision. And they will die a long lingering death while these vultures squezze every last cent out of them they can before skipping on their way, caring ONLY about how wise they've been, and nothing about their employees or their custonmers.
Mr Dell and Mr Gates are too busy counting their money to be concerned about the consumer! Seriously, companies today have short-sighted vision only looking at the bottom line for the next quarter or fiscal year. Look how often we are seeing companies that we thought would be around forever now folding or being absorbed. I would guess Dell is saying it is Microsoft's problem and Microsoft is saying that it is Dell's problem and neither wanting to take the first step to resolve the problem. I would guess some corporate lawyer/accountant probably has said it would be cheaper to give the x50v customers a refurbished x51v then to spend the money and energy to make the wm5 work on the x50v. Just be thankful that aximsite exist or else think about all the problems everyone would be having. I believe it is because of postings on aximsite caused Dell to finally give in and start replacing the x50v's with the x51v.
I've posted this before but it went unheeded.
Step 1 Find out the contact information for Micheal Dell and the rest of the board of directors. Email, snail mail, fax, phone, etc. Anything that can be used to contact them.
Step 2 Everyone and I mean everyone needs to attempt to make some sort of contact with one of the targeted individuals every day until a response is recieved.
Online petitions and such do not work. They get one letter from a group of people which can easily be taken care of by putting it in the round file. Now consider what would happen if each one of those people sent a tactful and professional letter to Dell's board of directors seeking a response. You now have 100 letters you have to do something with, then you go to day 2 and have 200 letters, day 3 300 letters, etc. You have to do something at that point to quite the masses. One letter signed by 100 people does nothing, 100 letters from 100 people brings change.
I didn't see any good reason for upgrading to WM5 on X50v
this is not upgrading from 98 to XP on my old laptop (XP has complete Chinese support even with English ver)
the main profit of upgrading is using ROM completely for storage, however, the data will be erased when doing hard reset (not like WM2003, the data is still there, this is handy when doing backup or put some critical files there)
also, MS bt on WM5 is still not good as 2003 (lacking HSP/HFP, LAN support; hacking required to make OBEX work)
