I've tried it again and again but still no luck.
Starting with the English A12 ROM from the dell.com site, the Form1 program output an .nbo file and I named it: DiAd_K_A12_X51v_WM5_EN.nb0
My .crc file is named: DiAd_K_A12_X51v_WM5_EN.nb0.crc and is nothing more than a notepad created file that has "1468E194" in it.
To recap, I'm doing this to a WM5 German X51v.
Again, any help is very very much appreciated!

Looks like your CRC file is incorrect. It should be DiAd_K_A12_X51v_WM5_EN_nb0.crc instead of DiAd_K_A12_X51v_WM5_EN.nb0.crc
Hope this will help
PS. Crc "146E194" is valid for English A12. You will need to generate your own crc for German ROM

The process of reflshing to other language is the same. You need to download ROM with desired language from Dell site, convert it with the given utility to nb0, create .crc and then reflash with bootloader.
I was able to reflash my German A04 rom to English A12, following this guide.

I had such problem when I was trying to re-flash my Axim with Dell ROM upgrade utility.
Normaly it consists of 2 parts:
- First it will load updated ROM update utility on Pocket PC and then restart the device. At this moment (before restarting), program changes something in the registry to not prompt you with the choice for "hard reset".
- After restarting, ROM update sw on PC will initiate the second part of the update process wich will run updater on Pocket PC and will start uploading ROM from PC.
If, for some reason, 2nd part had been interrupted (eg, you terminated upgrade utility on PC), registry on Axim will not be changed back to "normal"
So, in order to fix this problem, try to run Dell Upgrade Utility 1 more time and wait until it finished.
Hope thi will help

So all I need would be the latest German image file, convert this file with the utility and copy the output to the SD card and create an .crc file and copy that to the SD card, too.
What is this with the bootloader (is this your step 1-3) and waht about the different versions mentioned in the first post?
Does anybody know crc for latest German A04?

I'm looking at an English X51v! Fantastic! Thanks everyone for the help!
FYI, I was able to do a regular English ROM update via the normal IMG file afterwards so I presume future updates will work OK too.
@ voip
The SD card should have just the nb0 file and the crc file. If you don't know the crc of the German ROM just put any 8 digit number in the file. Run the SD boot process and wait for it to fail. When it does, it will tell you the correct crc. Take those numbers, put them in the crc file, and try it again.

Remember you have to create the image checksum file.
- Create CRC file:
1. in text editor (eg. Notepad) create new text file following this rule:
-if img file name is blah_blah.nb0 then crc file name will be blah_blah_nb0.crc
2. inside the file type some 8 chars (eg. 12345678). File size should be 8 bytes.
3. Copy .nb0 and .crc files on previously FAT 32 re-formatted SD card.
4. Inser SD card into Axim and Start SD boot loader.
5. Start image loading proccess by clicking twice on action button
6. Process will start and continue for about 5-10 mins. Then error message will pop saying that CRC is incorrect and programme will give you correct CRC number for the image, consisting of 8 chars (eg 1468E194).
7. Type thouse chars instead of dummy ones in .crc file.
Or it's:
x51v
CRC for English A12 1468E194

Hello,
I'm trying to change the language of my X51v using this method, but I always get an error "no suitable image found" or similar.
My current ROM is english A12 and I'm trying to flash with the corresponding spanish A04 with the file names "DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM5_A04ES.nb0" and "DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM5_A04ES_nb0.crc"
Does anybody know where can be the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure youre SD is formatted 'FAT32' ? SD cards <2GB are FAT16 by default.

Have the same problem after upgrading (usint the bootloader) with the Hard-reset (it doesn't work). Normal updating stops right before the second screen, i.e. when there are no NEXT button available.
May be somebody have already encountered and solved this problem?

Ok, it seems to be a problem with the card. I tried with another one and it worked fine. Now I have my X51v with spanish A04.
Thanks all of you.

I was dowloading maps to my Axim X51v through the IR port. It stayed there forever (I left it one night). I gave up. Tried to hard reset and it started with the Dell blue screen, passed to the Windows Mobile screen and that was it. It doesn't go beyond that.
I had tried hard reset and it goes to the same point.
I went to the Diagnostic screen and it passes all the tests.
I went to the "SD Image Update A05"screen and it can take the A12 and finish the download but after the "pres the power and reset buttons" at the end, it goes to the same point.
Behind the battery is an A01 and the SD dowloader has an A05.
What are those A01 and A05?
Any clue about what to do?
