Maybe everybody can post the CRC of the language file he already has discovered - so it would be easier for others.

A0x behind the battery is only the hardware revision of the Axim.

Maybe it´s a good idea to
a) first update to the latest available firmware version (of the language which is already installed) using the normal DELL update process and then
b) change the language with the method described in post 1

Cool

I can see that out of files in the Dell site to update to A12 you can get the .nb0 file for the WM5 but what about the bootloader file? Where can we get it?

Help? A06 > A12 SD flash ROM

Some questions before I attempt to flash A12 ROM.

I am unclear about creating the .crc file. I have generated the .nbo.
Do I just make a copy of the .nbo file and then change the ending to _nbo.crc?

It is this part of the instructions I'm curious about:

- Create CRC file:
1. in text editor (eg. Notepad) create new text file following this rule:

2. inside the file type some 8 chars (eg. 12345678). File size should be 8 bytes.

Inside the file? Where do I type these numbers? (eg) 1468E194?

I have an x51v 624mhz A06 English and actually made a mistake not "running" the install from its current location (firefox) which left my Axim unable to hard reset and unable to complete the A12 install. The first part works but after the first reset I do not get a "continue" button on the Dell update utility window.

Wish me luck. This site is great, thanks to all the wise people taking the time to post solutions it is appreciated.

Hi there Yellomenace!

Firstly, you do not copy the nb0 file and rename it crc.

- An easy way to create the crc file is simply to right-click in your file explorer and choose NEW->TEXT DOCUMENT.

- After this you open the New_Text Document.txt-file and type any 8 digits and save it.

- After this you rename the New Text Document.txt-file accordingly:

WM50_K_A01_X51v_WM5_ENG_nb0.crc, the file should be 8 bytes.

I hope this helped!

1 more question

Thanks Cozmoztintin, that did the trick.
I am now on vers. A12, very happy :) Where would I be without this site? Where's the donations page?

Just one not for those going through this hell.. just to clarify

Once the Axim has read the SD card and the image is finished writing..
DO the hard reset as the screen says.. Do NOT press 'power + wireless + reset' as it mentions in Domme's tutorial.

Good luck to me on installing all my programs again with a hitch

Thanks for the method. My x51v is back to life. However I have two problems:

1) The x51v still by passes the screen at hard reset
2) I still can not upgrade to the A12 ROM from desktup. After the first hardreset the upgrade utility in PC freezes; the screen of utility on PC does not change.
