First off, this info has been great. I've spent hours pouring over web sites, posts, etc for everything but the X51 (not V) until this post (YAY!).

I made the stupid mistake of loading Football's WM5-A17 AKI 2.3.1 ROM onto my X51. I realized after it stopped working that it was for the V model. I downloaded the X51/X51V ROM pack from Dell Support, found the conversion program in this thread, created a NB0 file from the A12 WM5 ENG ROM, created the proper CRC file, copied all to a FAT32 formatted SD card and successfully flashed the ROM.

It says to reboot by pressing power + reset, I do. Nothing. The only things that work from there is wifi+power+reset to get back to SD Image Loader and power+reset that prompts me to hit the mail button to reset factory defaults or home button to cancel. Picking either shuts the unit down.

It sounds to me like the OS Loader is the wrong version. Any ideas? I'd like to try some one else's X51 A12 ROM because the ROM that I ended up with from Dell was for X51V. Apparently they think it's the same thing? If someone can email me the files, drop me a PM and I'll send my email address.

I made the same same mistake, and I was screwed for two days. I got the X51 A12 rom from the Dell website and fixed everything.

The file is Dell download R129273.exe, which after installing becomes AximX51_WM5_A12EN.IMG.

After using the converter, the file is DiAd_K_AximX51_WM5_A12EN.nb0.

Create a new text file containing the text BCF3A4F4 and name it DiAd_K_AximX51_WM5_A12EN_nb0.crc

Copy the .nb0 and .crc files to a FAT32 formatted SD card and go at it.

Hope this works.

Hi everyone...

I've got big problem with my x51v. Every time I'm switching it on the 'reset screen' appears (to restore factory settings press... to cancel this operation press...)
In both ways my dell freezes on 'dell screen'. I read about flashing it from SD card. I downloaded A12EN soft fromm dell's web and made 'DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM5_A12EN.nb0' file using converter. The crc file 'DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM5_A12EN.crc' (1468E194 - is it right?). Both files I put on SD card formatted FAT32.

The problem is I can not enter bootloader. -> wirless button + power + reset. When i relase reset nothing happend, when I relase power button my dell is going back to 'reset screen' ?!?!

What is wrong, how can I fix it? What am I doing wrong.

I'm new with PocketPC

Is anybody can help me PLEASE ?!? I'm really desperate right now:(

I tried to downgrade from WM6 to WM5 in my x51

It works.

Maybe the solution in post 21 of this thread is the answer. I interrupted the Dell Update routine and now can't get past the blue Dell logo. The screen to do hard rest just flashes by and then it gets stuck. I'm going to try to rerun the Dell Update to see if it works.

Yes, running the Dell Update for the A12 ROM on the desktop with the Axim in the cradle fixed the problem.

Well I seem to have done all the files correctly, formatted the SD card etc... But when I go into bootloader (wireless button + Power and reset) it shows "SD Image Update A10_G3" and I press action key twice, nothing happens...absoultly nothing....
Any help would be greatly appreciated as my Axim is currently nothing more than a paper wieght.
