Good, so you finally succeed to download the utility.

You can post the german CRC value so I'll update the first post.

The WM 6 ROM you seek is not sanctioned by Dell or Microsoft and considered illegal. Discussion of and links to this illegal ROM are not permitted on this forum.

Thank you so much! Your tutorial was pretty easy. I now have the backup stored on my computer in case WM6.1 fails me on my x51v! Thanks again!

How to use the img2nb0.exe?!

Hallo everybody,

at the moment I'm testing different ROM-Images, but now I have installed the Englisch-Language to my X50V.
The Easyest way would be to install the German Rom created from the last German-ROM-Update from dell.

Well, I downloaded the WM_A02_Rom Update and the little PRogramm img2nb0f.exe. I start this, but the programm only create a nb0-File with size of 0kB. And nothing else will do.

I Use the Programm on a WindowsXP SP2 and the .net2-Framework installed.

How I will get the little Programm to start his work? Could anybody give me a little Help?!

Thanks a lot.

I need help! I installed successfully on my Axim X51v and am prompted to do a hard reset (power + reset button). However, every time I try this the screen goes blank and I can't get it to do anything else. I've tried soft resets, hard resets, wifi+power+reset, and anything else I can find. I've done the install several times and it always says it went well, but won't allow me to hard reset and get things going.

I've tried running it on batteries and it won't boot. I've tried it plugged into an outlet and it won't boot. I've put it in the dock with power and connected to my PC via USB, but it still won't boot. I literally can't get it to do anything except the bootloader, which says it is loading successfully but then refuses to allow me any further.

When I attempt a hard reset, the screen gives a light flash and then nothing. I don't know if that means anything.

Final interesting tidbit: to enter the SD bootloader, all I have to push is the wireless+power for a couple seconds. It loads even without me pushing the reset button! Is it possible my reset button is stuck and causing the problems?

Any other suggestions?

I have followed the instructions carefully (I have a Axim X51 Rom A04) to upgrade to ROM A12 english. After it starts the bootloader says "Image Checksum file not found". I don't get it. I have the following two files on a fat32-formatted sc card:

- DiAd_K_AximX51_WM5_A12EN.nb0
- DiAd_K_AximX51_WM5_A12EN_nb0.crc

What am I doing wrong??

Vandermark,
you can try two things:

Open DiAd_K_AximX51_WM5_A12EN_nb0.crc in Notepad and check if the content is ED73929A. If it is not ED73929A, please change it.

Then try changing the two file names to:
-WM50_K_AximX51_WM5_A12EN.nb0
-WM50_K_AximX51_WM5_A12EN_nb0.crc

Thanks johnhu for your quick reply.

I did both of your options. I still got the same message: "Image Checksum file not found"

It starts good, the bootloader finds the nb0 file and I twice push the action button, then the above message comes . . . :(

I have used a 1 and a 2 gigabyte sd-card. Are they perhaps too large? I don'nt have 256 or 512 MB cards...

I just reread your post:
You "jumped" ahead too far. You forgot to flash Axim x51 A05. After flashing A05, then flash A12.

Dell's utility for A05 is found here.

The Nb0 and CRC is found here on my Skydrive.

Bummers!

Everything went fine. After it finished it said to perform a hard reset. I tried to do that with the calendar button (like you said in the text file that came with the crc and nb0 file). Nothing happened. Then I tried with holding power button and reset button for a while: Blue Dell screen appears but stays on screen... what did I do wrong and how can I continue?

Another stupid thing I discovered: in Vista; it automatically puts .txt after a file you create in notepad but it hides the extention in explorer, so it looked like it had the right name, but it ended on .crc.txt.....!!

My previous problem is still here...!
