I just got my X51v yesterday... so far am quite pleased. I'm getting a screen protector for it, but I'll be using it in the meantime. How would I clean the screen to ensure the best look before applying the protector?
basically low tech here - i fog it with my breath and wipe it with a microfiber cloth before and after a blast with canned air. have seen suggestions to fog up the bathroom with steam to get rid of airborne lint and install the screen protector in the bathroom to insure no particles underneath.

Thank you much for the info... is this in a tutorial somewhere? I searched and didn't find it. Any other ideas?

"i tried...it may have been half assed, but i tried!"-me
I made the mistake of putting mine on without doing anything fancy (Clarivue clear screen protector)...Now I have two tiny dust particles under my protector that look horrible...but I can't figure out how to remove it (the screen protector)...so be careful when you install!

I ordered one of those and returned it the same day. That spray they include is the dumbest idea ever. I squeeged the water into my Axim...I mean UNDER the touch screen. Broke it. Not only that, the invisible shield didn't have the same feel when you use the stylus. The screen protector is almost "sticky" and thick.
In anycase, I have a NuShield now and couldn't be happier. It feels like there's no screen protector on it. There's also no sticky side so you don't get air bubbles no matter how you apply it. :approve:
I use a very slightly damp tissue to wipe the screen down, dry with a microfibre cloth, then follow up with a can of compressed air to remove any dust or lint. Has worked every time.

Don't try this at all... I just use the underside of my shirt, and wipe it clean that way. I do this all the time and yet my screen is still silky smooth and also only about one scratch that I need to be outside to see.
Maybe I am just finding excuses to upgrade to the v :)

you need to wash your hand with soap to wash off grease
use lightly damped cotton cloth to wipe clean, then use dust-off to blow lint away
prepare scotch tape in case to peel the sticker out to "stick" lint off
Well I got 2 Clarivue screen protectors, cleaned the screen and applied one... but it looks like something's wrong, the screen protector seems to be too small (it is the oen they sell for the X51v). Dunno whether I did something wrong, but the screen protector doesn't seem to have adhered to the screen much, I can move it around with my finger... I tried pressing it down with a card (plastic, credit-card like) and all it did was royally scratch my screen protector. Right now it's just kinda half-adhered, it moves if I put my finger on it but not with the stylus.
What I'm wondering at is not that the screen protector didn't adhere properly (which probably was my fault), but that it seems too small. There are lips around the edge of the screen that it can slide into, so unless the screen protector is perfectly centered it won't cover the entire visible screen surface.
