Mad Garbage Files and Directories, Help!!

I have an Axim 51v with Adata SD 4Gb .Suddenly in the root of main memory appears a strange directories and files with names with boxes and strange characters. The directories are empty, but I can't delete it any one. With the strange files happen the same thing, but the size are wrong too, the file explorer report size about 3.72 Gb, that it ridiculous!

I tried to delete it or rename it with Resco Explorer but don’t work,
I tried to delete it or rename it with Active Sync but don’t work,

I tried a soft reset, but the file doesn’t disappear.

What is wrong, the files are garbage in the memory but are inaccessible.

I think what the directory archive in the main memory are corrupted or something like that.

Someone can help me?

I attached a screen capture with this files.

Looks like a memory error to me - sorry
Something is wrong with the FAT table.

I suggest that you do a complete folder to folder back-up to a memory card before anything else goes wrong.
I don't know any other cure than a cold rest - and it's not given that it helps ...

Maybe other members can provide a better solution.

BTW: Congratulations to your first post anyhow - and welcome to the AximSite :approve:

I had this some problem with my x50v. The folders were giberish and the size was off. I had the machine replaced for another, unrelated problem (no sound from earphone jack) but had I kept it I would have done a hard reset and then tried to reinstall the OS if that didn't work. A hard reset is safe but you will lose all your data. If you have used ActiveSynch then your PIM data should be safe on your PC can be restored. Be sure to save documents before you reset the machine. Of course programs will have to be reinstalled after the reset. I'm not sure a backup progam will help here since it might backup the corrupted files as well. Hope you manage to solve the problem and welcome to Aximsite.

No, put the memory card in your PC memory card reader, and format it fresh, with FAT32.

Umm ... if you look at his screen shot the problem is in main memory on the machine itself and not the SD card.

It looks like the error is in the main memory and not the SD card.

If it's the SD card, it was simple just formating it again. If the error is in the main memory, I would sugest a hardreset and se if that solves the problem - if not it is an HW error.
