New to PDAs

Hi, Have never owned a PDA and am seriously considering purchasing one for an aviation chart application. Large, clear screen needed so I've narrowed choices down to HX4705 (no longer made but refurbs can be had for about $320) and X51V. The x51v can be bought new on ebay for as little as $335 or through Dell new currently for $379. Any help choosing appreciated. In reading lots of post on this forum I'm coming away concerned about the amount of glitches folks seem to have on relatively new hardware. Is this something I should be concerned about? thx for any info

I wouldn't worry so much about the number of glitches you see here on the site. Usually people only post the problems on sites like these and the people not having problems either lurk or don't come at all. But this site seems to be a little different in that it is very friendly, has a lot of info and help available and there are a lot of long timers still hanging around. Mostly I would make sure you get the x51v so that you have the vga screen. Do keep in mind that the current track appears to be that Dell will not have the Axim line after next year. I think if i were going to buy one now I would try to get either a 2 or 3 year complete care warranty so you would be covered for the majority of the 'useful' life of the device. Hopefully after that time there will be something better out there. Good luck and welcome to Aximsite!!

aboard. I would second bigdave's comments. The screen really makes the difference but i also think you need to think about the things that you will be doing and whether the touchpad will be help or a hindrance. I also liked the feel of the axim in the hand.
