Ahh haa that explains it all, young and dumb and full of yourself:approve:
no need to waste any more time on this.
anyways go for gusto and get the X51v down the road as you do more with it, you will be glad you stepped up.
"Young and dumb" ?
A typical, idiotic reply from some "adult" who thinks his age has something to do with his maturity. I would be lying if I said I didn't expect this reply from someone. Let's see you point out something "dumb" in my above posts, and you better provide some damn good support for whatever bullshit you make up! Please do enlighten me, oh educated and wise adult.
You are the one who is full of himself.
If you can't handle common sense, don't bother replying to it. If you do reply to it, you better write something substantial and not "ur teh sux cuz u 18 yo."
You sheep amaze me, honestly. Absolutely no self-thought, everyone goes along with the herd. No wonder Bush was elected for a second term. If it wasn't such an over-used cliche, I would have to say "Wake up and smell the coffee!"
All it takes is one person posting some common sense to get the whole bunch of you rattled up, eh? Seeing logic must be painful or something... Well, no matter, think what you will.
In the meantime, short form is: "Read the current threads - sometimes the answer is right in front of your nose. Yes, there IS a performance difference going up to 612 from 520MHz.

A performance change strictly in processing power? Yes, but I would argue that it alone is not considerable enough to justify an upgrade. If you consider the other features you get with the v unit, then yes, otherwise, stick with the 520mhz unit.
I have my x51v set at "auto" processor speed. I have never seen it go above 520mhz, such speed is simply not needed for common tasks.
Look at the lower-end Axim x30 series and the WM Treos. They all have "slow" processors, yet they can handle 95% of the tasks thrown at them. A 92mhz increase in speed... I don't think it will be noticeable.
I have but two words for you - game playing. I do see mine hit 624Mhz if I'm using an emulator, because it's CPU intensive, and it's smoother with it than with the 520MHz; I've run PocketDOS with Ultima 6, and it's smoother on the x51v than on a QVGA 520MHz device.
Videos are an other area where they get a boost - even without using the Intel 2700g decoder. Between those two applications, I'd say that (especially if you do game) that the extra speed is justified, especially given the difference in price between the 624 and 512 - especially when the 624's on sale. ;)

Hey, just calm down. I think you've got your point across.
I'm sorry but I agree with Kerunt, and I'm not 18 or someone whose wife has left them, I'm happily married. I don't think we should be mollycoddling people that aren't going to contribute past asking a question that could have easily been answered by a quick search or browse and then never bother to post again. I've only started one thread, and even then only after I found out it was not a problem anyone had seen before, and I've only seen one thread since with the same problem and that was on a different model.
As to the 624 vs 520 question, it's not as simple as that, the 624 version has a lot more than just a slightly faster processor, it has more Flash memory, the 2700g (which rocks btw) and the beautiful VGA screen. If I had the choice again I'd still snub the 520 version, I've seen the qvga screens, and while I have to admit they look okay, they aren't as nice as full vga.
I see no problem at all, in giving people a friendly nudge in the direction of the search button...
Flaming is another matter completly.. I'm Pro-search but Anti-Flame. Teach a man to fish and all that....
Using only the words

Of course a gentle point in the right direction is fine, but some of the things mentioned in this thread have been nothing short of flaming.
What could be a good idea is that maybe Chris can send a PM or email to all new members with some site "guidelines" such as using the search button before posting a new thread, or not trying to offend other new members by flaming them
