help needed asap!!!!!!!!!

hey i need a program to completely wipe out my x51, so i can put a fresh copy of windows mobile 5 on it. so if anyone can direct me on my way that would be great. or if anyone can tell me in depth how to convert from Portugeuse to English that would be great. i'd also be willing to send someone $20 though paypal if it works.

I never heard of anyone doing that.Most just do a hard reset and take it back like it came from Dell.I'm not even sure you can buy the complete OS..Sorry,I can't help with the language conversion.

Welcome to aximsite. All you need is a big hammer. Hit it one time, dead center, and I'll guarantee it will be wiped clean. Just kidding, I really don't know but this site is full of very knowledgeable people and I'm sure someone will be able to help!

Are you looking to do a hard reset? IF so just hold the power button while you reset. This will remove everything from the machine and return it to factory clean (including clean OS).

If you are looking at doing some sort of ROM update you can try upgrading to a newer ROM on Dell. If you already have A12, I've heard successful stories of upgrading to the latest in another language (such as French) and then returning to an English ROM. This would force a ROM update of even the latest ROM.

I just read the part about changing to English. You have it easy. Just go to the following page and follow the instruction very carefully.

Because you are changing language it will definitely put a new copy of the OS on your Axim.

Have you just tried to install the ROM A12 from Dell? That should do it.

(Just don't take the Axim out of the cradle during THE ENTIRE process. Trust me.)

Did you check Dell website to see if you could download an english version?

As far as how to do a ROM update, search aximsite.com because there are known issues. You should be able to flash the ROM with an english version (but I give no gaurentee) as the hardware is the same.

You asked how to format the device. Axims cannot be "formatted" like a computer can. They can be "flashed" which is a process that formats the deivce and puts the latest version of Windows Mobile on it.

Before flashing to the ROM I would call Dell and ask about it as they are often helpful if you can get to level 2 support.

From what I know the change in ROM wipes out the whole system and then reinstalls. I'd take a wild guess and say just a simple ROM upgrade. :rolling:
