ActiveSync Vs. Memaid
This is for you folks who have memaid. For the Love of God, do not delete notifications that you do not know the purpose of. About a month ago I thought I was helping my Axim by deleting a bunch of notifications in the Notification list in Memaid...well, later that week when I went to sync my axim, Activesync kept giving me the message that it could not sync because the device was not recognized. Today I saw a thread saying that some of those notifications are for AS and the deletion of such notifications would screw up AS...So...I hard reset and am now in the process of restoring my Axim...
You are now warned.

I'm slowly becoming an AS hater. Damn program is a pain in the rear sometimes.
It's like windows 98 ... fine once you put in a ton of personal time and effort to tweak things but if you're a neophyte then you basically have to live with it's idiosyncracies.

Or at least make sure you have a propper backup of your system before you try anything risky.
I use sprite and can go from Hard reset, to fully restored system in <5mins... it automatically backs up my axim every night while I sleep, and if i'm going to do anything like the first poster, i'll backup just before.
SPB backup users can do similar stuff....

This prob seems to be common with ALL cleanup apps (see http://www.mobilitysite.com/forums/u...-new-post.html at the bottom for more info ). I'll some time investigate what it's caused by.

Hi,
This means you manually deleted a crucial notification in the notification queue (that's ActiveSync).
To get this back you don't need to HardReset, you need to create it again
In MemMaid,
- go to the notification Queue tab and tap [Add]
- select "An Rs232 connection detected" in the event
- select \windows\repllog.exe in the target
- tap [ok]
and you're all set.
MemMaid will never delete this entry on its own, you'll have to select it yourself and delete it manually for this to happen.

That's why!
I too deleted every notification and me too couldn't sync. It baffled me because I checked everything from the usb port to my usb extention cable. I even removed and upgraded my activesync on my PC.
Thanks... now I'll know better then to delete anything with replilog.

Thanks Dinarsoft! I wish you had told me that last week, but I'm still glad someone knew a way to fix it without hard resetting. I should have known better than to delete all of the notifications. I simply wasn't thinking.

This important info saved me from a hard reset. I've been relying on synching via BT until now. :-)
