Bluetooth guide for Windows Mobile 5

I have had a look at the excellent guide at http://www.aximsite.com/bluetooth/bt....htm#section10 but the instructions appear to apply to an earlier version of Windows not WM5

I have the version of bluetooth which came with ThinkOutside keyboard installed on X51v and BlueSoleil installed on my desktop.

I am unable to do the following:

- Activesync PC / X51v via bluetooth (works via cable)
- Use my Nokia 6230i as a modem

It would be really great if the bluetooth guide could be rewritten for WM5

Thanks for the link to the bluetooth information. I can get my bt pda to pair with the computer but have had problems with trying to send something from the computer to the axim. I know I can do sync or use card reader but I was fooling around and wanted to experiment with sending something by bt. I believe this posting will help. In looking it over I see that I did not take enough steps in the process. I stopped too soon. When I have the time, I will use this guide to complete the task.

Hi Rcab,

It is a well known problem regarding bluetooth Obex file transfers and the X51V's default (microstink) bluetooth stack. It is too unpredictable to be reliable. If you haven't already, you can try the widcomm stack ported by beemer and mikelspikel for the X51. It gives you much more function and compatibility than the microstink one.

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=122247

Things you can do with the ms stack:
ActiveSync via bluetooth
Dial up networking with your bluetooth phone (or bluetooth modem)
Obex files transfers (works with some devices, doesn't work with others)
Connect to GPS serial port for GPS navigation
Connect to bluetooth stereo headphones via A2DP (only recently)

Widcomm stack can do all those plus much more:
Connect wireless headset via (HSP/HFP) for use with Skype
Share a signal from one GPS reciever, from your X51 to another device using GPSGate
Share network drives from any computer Axim using PAN
--Watch movies, listen to music over the network
--copy and send files to and from your axim either directly or via FTP
Connect to Remote Desktop on your computer using your Axim's Terminal services
Share your computer's internet connection without Activsync passthru

And here is my favorite one, use the axim as a proxy server (thank you menneisyys) to share internet connection to any device connected to the bluetooth personal area network. Eg. Sharing dun internet connection from my bluetooth phone to another device using the X51V as a internet proxy server, two or more devices connected to the bluetooth network can use the internet at the same time. (of course this can also be done via wifi adhoc connection unless the device that you are sharing it with is an X51 low) :approve:

Don
