Vista and Windows Mobile syncing

If you are running Vista on your PC, then you may be interested in this latest release from Microsoft:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...icecenter.mspx

It should allow you to sync WM5 and PocketPC 2003 devices with Vista RC1 or RC2 releases.

It is beta software, so as always ensure you have backups or other ways of getting your valuable data back if you are going to use it.....

Its beta software, so expect some troubles!

Unlike ActiveSync (which you had to install BEFORE plugging in the device) you now need to plug in the device, and then go to Windows Update to get he extra bits for WMDC. You need the device connected, or else the additional items wont be shown in WU.
I believe the latest version is: WMDC V6.0.6526. Is this what you have?
My X51v (ROM A012) syncs happily to Vista RC1. BUT I have had to un-check the Notes sync as that kept crashing Outlook.

Some info others have found out:
In Vista’s Device Manager check if under Network Adaptors the Windows Mobile device is marked as Disabled. It should be enabled.
Also, you may need to enable the USB connections in WMDC.
