My poor X51 got crushed!

After waiting about 30 days to get my Axim X51 from Dell (through VAR, major delays) last month, this was the sucker punch to the face. Saturday night, I came home from work with my dad (he drove that day) and realized I didn't have my Axim on me when I walked into the house. Not to worry, I figured I left it at the office.

This fine Monday morning, as my dad leaves for work, my mom proudly calls my name and says "Hey, I found your PDA! It was in the garage next to your dad's car...". Surprised, I have a gleery smile on my face. I anxiously open it to check today's tasks and... bam, right in the face: my Axim was crushed. I guess my father drove over it and didn't realize it at all. I don't blame my dad for it... he in fact advised me to backtrack my steps that day, but I chose to ignore it since I'm a cocky SOB. I felt like crap the whole day.

So, since I was so content with my Axim X51 till it got crushed, I did what any smart individual would do: I ordered a new X51 today, of course. :D

Complete Care would actually cover that? Wow! I'm going to look into that and see if I can change my order...

I do not have Complete Care (yet), but from what I understand, it covers a replacement "no questions asked". I think you can buy it after you buy your Axim as long as your factory warantee is still in effect (subject to a waiting period before you can file a claim). I am guessing there are more details on Dell.com and here from other members who have used Complete Care.

Viewer discretion, indeed. That is truly hard to look. I can't imagine seeing it for real.

I've got 404 days left -- maybe I should consider complete care.

If you bought with a credit card, you may have purchase protection/insurance that may cover replacement cost.

Yep, that's what I was thinking too. The case was pretty durable I might add... except for the middle part.

I was told up here by Dell Canada that I cannot purchase Complete Care after the fact. i.e. only could have done so at original time of purchase.

Is it different in the USA?

Those pictures bring a tear to my eye. :sniff sniff: Unfortunately, you can only purchase complete care before the fact. It's insurance in a sense and that's how it works. Sorry.

Also, price a screen replacement at PocketPCtechs or similar site (assumiing you don't have completecare). Allso, if the CB is good, it would be a killer way for an X50 user to get an X51.

I'm going to do some tests tomorrow at the office concerning my PDA. I will remove the screen entirely and see if the thing will power up and synchronize when inserted in the cradle. I'll keep you guys posted... perhaps, I could replace the screen as suggested by PocketBrain if the cost is decent.
