If you have a registry editor (eg. resco plugin) you can go to HKLM\software\microsoft\bluetooth\serial\ports - in supported ports, add the com port you need.

p.s. editing the registry may harm your system. make a backup.

note: this was done with resco reg. edit., haven't tried other editors

Thankyou for your quick reply.

I did try this but all I succeed in doing was deleting 1 of the COM ports, but having made a backup before I started I was able to restore.

So please can you give me exact instructions how to do the entries, I am using
PHM regedit.

Many Thanks

Use Resco, it's easier. If you don't have it, they have a trial version. I'm going to try it with PHM, stay tuned.

In PHM change binary data from (eg. adding COM6): 43 00 4F 00 4D 00 37 00 00 00 43 00 4F 00 4D 00 38 00 00 00 00 to 43 00 4F 00 4D 00 37 00 00 00 43 00 4F 00 4D 00 38 00 00 00 43 00 4F 00 4D 00 36 00 00 00 00

In Resco, all you have to do is Type: COM 6

MSW and DVMED are both more advance than I, regarding tinkering with registeries. However, I would learn the process of modifying if I thought it would solve a problem:I use to use PalmOs5 Desktop with the Clie TJ-35. When I loaded Axim software, COM1 not was available for the TJ-35 to use. Thus I can no longer use it.
Would creating another COM port allow TJ-35 to be used without conflict with Activesync? I would like to have back the use of my old Clie as well as use the x51v Axim.

I just purchased the Dell x51v Serial cable and I use Com1 all the time to direct connect into switches that I program.
