Sophos Anti-Virus looking for beta testers

Hey just found this....Sophos Anti-Virus are looking for beta testers for their new mobile AV product. It only supports two devices at present (probsbly testing shortages ) but the x51v is one of those. They're not accepting everyone, so you need to register and see. since there aren't any virus's out in the wild that affect the pda, why would you want to bother and how would you know if it did work?

Well there certainly are symbian viruses out there, and MS is really pushing windows mobile - malware writers will develop for any platform they can make money on. I wouldn't be surprised if more malware was written for the platform before long. Also, your device may not get infected by malware, but it can certainly pass it on to platforms which can.

Sure right now there's very little risk, i've no axe to grind, just passing it on :)

I dunno, beta testing is kinda fun. Might just give it a try, thanks for the link. Any other leads on Mobile device software beta testing?

AV is not just for the Ax.. if you copy something from an infected PC to SD, it won't affect the Ax but.. if you put it in another (unprotected) pc..
In this case, if the Ax had some AV software it would have notified you..

Who knows?? A virus might improve WM5

Or will Sophos AV detect WM5 as a virus
