Another card question, required storeage

Hi

I have just order my little baby, now looking at getting memory cards for it.

I thinking of using a single CFII card for my programs and then multiple SD cards for documents, pictures, music, maps etc etc......

I however have no idea what amount of storage will be required for the programs, my main usage will be for note taking, little bit of GPS, then general email contacts etc etc........play some music. People seem to have other task managers and some utility programs as well.

So my program requirements should be average, what size of storage will be needed?

Would 1 gig suffice or should I look at getting 2 - 4 gig?

How much room are others using for programs?

Many thanks
Steve

I have a 512mb SD card and a 8gb CF micro drive in my X51V. I have not used eithor of them to store applications though as I understand its very simple to do. Others here have loaded tons more applications than I and have posted their results on application loading on external cards. Perhaps a search of this site would give you some of the answers you seek.

1 gig will hold more programs than you can find that are really useful to you for your pda most programs for pdas are less than 5meg

I'm ordering myself a 1 GB sd card for my x51v as well. 1 GB is definitely enough for programs. It's files like big images, videos, and music that suck up the storage. Installing programs to your memory cards are easy too. When the axim begins installing a program, it will ask you where you want to install it to. Just select the card you have in there. Voila.

Thanks guys

That is along the lines of what I was thinking of, around a 1gig (maybe 2 just because), was just wanting to check that I did have to re-mortgage my house and get a 4gig just for programs.

May get a 2gig so that it will give me ample program storage and then some room for files that I may wish to have on me at all times.

Thanks
Steve

Just to note, I have a 512mb CF, and three 1gb SD cards, and I run out of space... It all depends on what you store, I have 1 card dedicated to movies, 1 to music, and 1 to TV shows. (my CF is programs, as it never leaves my PDA)

Thought I'd add, If you've not looked at cases yet, I know for a fact that the Rhinoskin (I have one for both my Axims, and HIGHLY reccomend them) and senna, as well as I think several others, have built-in holders for SD/CF cards (my Rhinoskin holds 2 sd cards)

Just thought I'd note, the dell "aluminum case" is really a Rhinoskin (even has it printed on the case when you receive it)

I use the dell leather case along with my aluminum one on my x5. The leather case has a pocket inside that I keep my wifi card and two cf cards stored in. I take it out the leather case when in use but have it in both cases when transporting.:not_worth

Just as a notice, for example western europe map for tomtom is almost 1GB.. so if you plan to make a worldtrip with a navigation program, you might need more then 1GB.
