Tried it. Didn't work. But thanks for the idea.

Here's something special; if I try to delete them using activesync, it says no file exists. If I try to rename them with Resco or the default explorer, it says it can't as if it's a system file in use or whatever.

What I need is a way to change the attributes of the files or a way to wipe BIS clean.

I'm going to head over to the SPB forum.

I hate to make such a big deal over it, but it's like, there's something there that shouldn't be and it must go. OCD? Yep.

Sure thing. I'm thinking the solution will probably be a sticky.

Seen this error on a X5 and a X50v.
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=124737
The file isn't there. There is an invalid reference to it that makes it seem to be there. I got rid of it by upgrading my X50v to WM5 and then downgrading.

Kenban suggested this. Now that I know it works, I am willing to give it a try. Thanks for this post. I'll give it a try on Friday or Sunday when I have the time to flash around and reload all my progs. Then I'll let all know how it worked out.

Kenban is SPOT ON!. I happened to be running A04 ROM on my x50 with the annoying file stuck in BIS so thought I might as well upgrade to A05 and see if that worked......NOPE!

I also had a WM5 image available and have never upgraded given the problems that there were, plus I was happy with my setup.

I backed up my BIS, backed up my Axim using Sprite and then did the WM5 upgrade followed by a downgrade back to WM2003SE.

IT WORKED!!

Then I just copied my filed back to BIS, restored my Sprite Backup and my Axim is back exactly as it was before the procedure, but minus those annoying files.

The procedure is quite painless, just make sure you follow the directions and be patient, it is time consuming.

The only slight "hitch" I had was after the WM5 upgrade my Axim seemed to get stuck at the screen showing you where the wireless button is and informing you that it is turned off by default. I left it for about 30 minutes but it was still like it when I came back so I did a soft reset and it booted right into WM5.

Kudos to kenban, this is the ONLY way you are going to get rid of these stuck files, I tried and exhausted every other avenue.

Awesome Woodbane. I was going to do it this weekend but life got in the way. Shooting for next weekend. Can 't wait to get my AXIM back up to snuff.

Sprite backup huh? I use SPB backup. Wonder if it is as good as Sprite. Going to have to look into it.
