X50 mem card and hidding files

Hi there.

I was recently given a Axim X50 at work and am having a couple of little niggles with it.

1. I have a 64Mb SD card which came out of Nokia 6680 mobile (Card came supplied with phone). I formated it on the Axim using the Flash Format utility. I used FAT16 and 1Kb cluster size. It seems to work fine until I put pictures on it. MP3's and movies work fine. When I try to open a phot using the Pictures app, a part of the image appears and then the Axim locks up and i need to remove the battery. If the images are on the built-in storage, they work fine. I have tried a 512Mb card and that works fine. The 64Mb card was working fine in the mobile.

2. Is there any way to hide files and folders without having to puchase any apps? Is there a freeware file hidder or is there something within the OS that I am missing.

Any help greatfully received.

1. Try formatting in fat32. fat16 is older format type.

2. Use gsfinder file explorer. It has an option to make files hidden, just like u can hide files on a desktop pc.

Thanks for your answer.

1. I tried FAT32 and put a video file on the card. I watched the video, exited the app and then the card disappeared from the system and then the Axim locked up. I think it just doesnt like this card!! Think will give up and get a newer card. Which is best, SD card or compact flash?

2. Thanks for the app. I can only seem to hide files, when I look at properties of a folder, the hide option is grayed out and I cant click on it. I did find a newer version of this app but the site is all in Japanese or Chinese. I did manage to download it and install on the Axim but I have boxes instead of text, take it thats cos its in a different language.

Thats not a good advice, fat32 is only needed for filesystems larger then 2GB. (btw, wm5 can even read 4GB fat16)

RU sure the nokia card isn't mmc ? (should not matter btw, but there have been problems with mmc+axim).
For a memory advice.. i think its best to go for SD since they are mostly cheaper. Also you can use your CF slot for other things.

Having a look at the card, it is a DV-RS MMC card with an adaptor. Thats prob why I am having trouble with it then. Will forget about trying to use it!! The 512mb card I tried and had no trouble with was also a DV-RS MMC but its new so it might be more compatible.
