Which one to buy: cheaper used X50V & X51V or new X51V?
I am keen to get my first Axim, pls help me to decided which one to buy. Any input will be appreciated.

Offered 2 used Axim units, specs as below:

Unit 1: Axim X50V – 9 months warranty left (owner bought 2 Years warranty), extras include: 1100mAh Spare Battery and a Dell Leather case. Price: $250

Unit 2: Axim X51V - standard package, no extras. 1 month warranty left. Price: $250

New Axim X51V: around $370 (can go a bit lower if I am patient enough!)

which one you would chose? Thanks.

I would definitely go for one of the X51v models, and with only 1 month warranty left on the used one, the new one plus a bit of patience might be preferable, IMHO.

I'd go X50v, from what I understand it's a faster operating system on the Axim. Also, more programs will work with it. Plus an extra battery is a great thing to have, I think I'll be getting one for mine real soon. Besides, you should be able to trade it in for an X51v if you decide you really want to.

I'd go option 1 or 3... and if either had the complete care warranty i'd go for that one

Option 1 - the extras + the warranty + the price= great deal!

(just my noob opinion, of course!)

No question IMHO, get the X51V new. I did and its a great unit. Plus all of those beginning issues that most of us went through have been taken care of with ROM A12.

Thanks everyone. I did some calculation today and figured out that:

If I get the used x51v, most likely I would extend its warranty which would cost around $40. So I will end up spending $290 and own an 11-months old x51v with 13mth warranty.

While if I wait for a new unit, which may cost me around $340 - Dell offered this price at least twice in last 6mths in my region (but then I didn't think of buying one & missed the chances). I quite confident that Dell will offer similar price again not late than this Xmas. So, with a bit of patience, I can get a brand new x51v with 12-mths warranty with $340.

Frankly speaking, there’s not big difference between 12mth & 13mth warranty. Now the question becomes: should I opt for an 11-mths old x51v in order to save $50? (and that doest not take in account the trouble of updating the ROM, reconfiguring a pre-owned PDA & below-par battery life etc.) And I think the answer is quite clear now – wait for a new one!

Anyway, as usual, feel free to comment/discuss ...... I've not own a Axim & the case is not closed yet.
