EVDO, GPRS, EDGE connection dropping? read this!

I use my sprint evdo connection via bluetooth to connect my x51v to the net. I listen to shoutcasts on my way to work. Most of the time though my connection is droped after 5-10 min. Not easy to regain a connection going 80mph with that little stylis. SO i tired to use that GPRS program, which didn't work and would also crash after 5-10 min on my axim.

Down to it.
To keep your connection alive do this:
Get a free website...many isps have em or goto geocities.
make a page that auto refreshed after so many secs.
the meta http-equiv is the immport line!
I removed the frist < in all the html tags so they wold show up on the forum
mine looked somthign like this
HTML>
HEAD>
TITLE>Start Page/TITLE>
meta http-equiv="refresh" content="25" >
/HEAD>
BODY>
This is the Start page.BR>
A HREF="http://www.google.com/">Google/A>BR>
A HREF="http://www.gizmodo.com/">Gizmodo/A>BR>
/BODY>
/HTML>

let me know if this works for anyone else!

I just run AIM or MSN Messenger and that works out well, since that does that hits the server periodically to keep the connection alive.

A browser-based solution takes a LOT of system resources and is not recommended. MSN Messneger / AIM is a better solution to the problem - as with the Ping-based solution I've published a year ago (please do follow my blog / articles!) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

I've tryed the whole ping thing, does work at all for me
been connected for 1+ hour with this solution.

I think he meant that a browser eats more resources than it needs to when there are alternate solutions available. Plus if you're streaming data, why would you need the keep-alive solution to begin with?

Also, wouldn't having Messaging check for mail for you every x minutes be useful as well? The daemon's running all the time anyway. And plus, if y ou're going to be eating resources just to keep your connection alive, it might as well be doing something useful rather than keeping it alive just for the sake of keeping it alive.

Also, people on metered access probably would want the best or most efficient use of their kilobytes. So again, using time/money efficiently.
