Vista / Sync Problem

Hi, I never had any problem with ActiveSync in Windows XP. Everything was running smooth. I just reformatted the HDD and installed Windows Vista(which i should say is pretty good),and all hell broke lose,im not able to sync my Axim. Windows Mobile Devices doesnt detect my axim,even if it does it is not allowing me to setup it up. Dont know what to do,where to start. Am very confused. Need info on how to sync wirelessly as i just installed a Linksys PCI Adapter on my desktop. Can i sync wireless?. Can i do a remote session with my desktop wirelessly?.

What version of active sync are you using? The last version that would let you do a wireless sync was 3.8, I believe. And even with that, you have to sync with the cradle to establish a partnership before it will let you sync wirelessly.

I have Active Sync 4.2 or above im not sure which one comes on Vista,but when i tried to install Active Sync 4.5 it doesnt install saying you cannot install an older version. Im not sure how to get that fixed on Windows Vista.

me too and I lost all sorts of ram, i'm removing it all now including wisbar adv desktop and maybe even wisbar which robs me of 4mbs alone

Vista uses a new way of sync. It's called WMDC and is not included in Vista but just as AS a seperate tool. This tool is now in beta 3 so not ready yet.

You have to wait untill it is released because none of the AS versions will work.

Yeah, the new version works adequately, but I've had major problems with recordings I've made (either intentionally or accidentally). It basically crashes the entire sync process ... get rid of those files and it seems to be fine (or move them to a place they aren't sync'd).
