Help with iSilo & Axim X51

I have a Dell Axim X51 with MW5. I downloaded iSilo as a document reader and I'm having a lot of trouble with it, but I know of others who have Axim's and it works fine.

I'll go to open a document and it'll do the little thing like it's loading and then nothing happens. I'll do this about ten more times and a thing will pop up that says the program's from an unknown publisher and asks if I want to continue. I Click yes and nothing happens. I repeat this about ten more times and if I'm lucky it'll finally pop up.

Anyone know what the problem is? I really need this program to read certain documents and I contacted iSilo and they don't know what the problem is, they say they've never heard this one before. I've reinstalled iSilo twice (yes, I downloaded the Pocket PC version) to no avail.

I run a back-level Palm version of iSilo under SyleTap on my WM2K3.2 X50V.

I do know that it is possible to set document level security. Could the problem be with your document rather than iSilo?

Try downloading one of the free iSilo format documents to see if it also has a problem, perhaps?

No, that's not the problem. Is does this on ANY iSilo document, and even the iSilo main program. And now they won't open at all no matter how many times I try. :rolling:

I would probably deinstall once again, soft reset, use a file manager to remove all lingering traces of iSilo, soft reset, use a registry editor to remove all lingering traces of iSilo from the registry, soft reset, Deinstall iSilo from the PC, reboot, use a file manager to remove all traces from the PC, reboot, use a registry editor to remove all traces from the PC's registry, reboot, recheck both the PDA and the PC to be sure it is completely gone, ActiveSync, Soft Reset, reboot, then re-check both the PDA and PC to be sure it is really all gone.

Then I would go out to www.isilo.com and pull down a fresh copy of the install and install it.

I just went out to the iSilo website (www.iSilo.com) and cannot find anywhere where it is explicitly stated that iSilo is supported for Windows Mobile 5 (WM5), although they indirectly do by discussing the X51V.

Wasn't there something in WM5 about unknown publisher?

I think you can make this stop yourself. With a registry editor, go to HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\0000101a and change the value to "1". This will disable warnings. Tweaks2K2.net will also do this.

As I understand it, the author (iSilo in this case) needs to obtain a certificate from Microsoft due to a change in Windows Mobile with WM version 5.0.

I'm just going to have to watch for the next $250 special on X51V's and get one just so I have the experience with WM5.

Glad it worked out.
