1st let me say I updated to an x51v long ago so I have no dog in this race.
If someone on this forum released a ROM to a "select" few on here to beta without the permission of the people at Dell, not only does everyone else have reason to bitch about it, but they also have recourse through Dell. I'd say if it HAS been released this way, someone is jeapordizing his job, and is foolish to think that someone on here is not going to be ticked off enough at not being included in the selected to inform Dell. However, if this is being done with Dell's permission (possible, but highly unlikely), forget everything I've said ;-)

I've been waiting for a fix, besides going back to WM2003 so long I refused to buy a Dell laptop. Dell is practically doing the same thing Gateway did with the Amiga it seems. A bunch of hype.

I agree, Its un-realistic to expect people to not be angry when a select few, "get" an update that has been expected/needed for long.
Its perfectly natural for people to be kind of Pissed that some people got it early.
Although I see and respect your point; I gotta somewhat disagree. If you followed this thread from the beginning, you would notice that all Juraj did was communicate what he was told by his contact. He is not an official voice of Dell. He thought he is a bearer of good news and knowing the frustration with the current situation he wanted to share the good news with people here. Was it his fault that the update was not released when he was told? Was it his fault that it happened twice? No. So what does he get... people call him a liar, a troll, post rude and offensive messages and bitch at him like he is causing all this delay and take all the frustration on him.
What the "selected few" (as you are referring to us) did was completely opposite - we were polite, reasonable, understanding, and we trusted that he is telling the truth. Maybe that's why we were offered to give it a test drive. I personally did not ask for it but I was offered and I accepted. Frankly, I would do exactly the same thing.
All this thread did was rattle the cages. People were not expecting anything from Dell for a long time, and now this came up. If this thread wasn't posted, people would just be minding their own business whether Dell plans to release it or not. You can't expect people not getting agitated by this.
p.s. Just an observer. I got an X50V w/se and an X51V and no interest with this update.

I Haven't asked any of the "select few" for the rom to test. I was very polite when I e-mailed phendric and never asked him for the rom.
I did call Juraj a troll, because at the time there was no proof, (and until I see it on Dell's website, download it and put it on my axim I still have no proof). He shows up and announces this thing that MANY people have waited a year or more for and you expect people to just sit back and think oh well when it doesn't happen? That's unreasonable. We don't know this guy, he could be totally making it up and people could be posting photo-shopped pics. (again till I get it, there is no proof)

He didn't post it here as Dell employee but as a member of this community. Also, I find it funny that you do not believe anything he said about the update before you see it, but you readily believe that he is Dell employee. Did you see his employee card or something already? Or is it just convenient to believe only what lets you justify your own actions?

You are preaching to the quire here. I am in the same boat as everyone else and I was waiting for a working update for the same long time. However, I did not think that he is making it up, or acted like an ass when it didn't show up... so no, I do not think that's unreasonable.

We did not over-react and where not mean before we got our hands on the update and we were not mean after. So what is your point?

But once you do get it, you'll still have no proof since you can't install it on anything & thus make sure that the file wasn't doctored in some way...do you?
I still don't understand why people are getting pissed about a situation they can not control. It would be different If this was announced to the world and then was not released. We basically have gotten some inside info. I must tell you that this whole situation more than likely is even out of Juraj's control. So basicly we end up with a shoot the messenger type of situation due to something that was out of Juraj's control (decision not to release it yet). I have an opinion of what is going on here but I will keep that to myself as it is merely speculation and nothing more, so I guess what I am trying to say is relax people, you have waited this long already whats another day or two going to hurt. I stated this in an earlier post that I have no stake in this outside of wanting to see Wm5 work a trick on the X50 series. I will continue to monitor this thread until resolution.
Repeating what I stated HERE, Dell owes me $50, plain and simple, irrespective of this topic. And they will not get my business again until I see that $50.

I think you will be better served taking this up with Dell directly. I think that if this is indeed the outcome that you want (getting money back), You can press them enough to get the results that you want, because you have a valid complaint that has been acknowledged by Dell.
