Well, Dell lists separate files for the LE and ME

I believe the LE has half the BIS of the ME and VGA, so it may have
to do with the formating...

R143810.EXE for the LE
R143811.EXE for the ME
R143808.EXE for the VGA (for completion's sake)

So it is there. I am very surprised. I was wrong. It does exist. Nevertheless, I believe I will wait and see what others experiences are before jumping in with both feet. And it still smarts a lot to have a free ROM upgrade for the X50V when Dell charged us $50 for one that did not work before.

I'm glad the update is out and that Juraj put up with the harassment by some people on this site to bring us WM5 users some hope.

But what really gets me ticked off is the output of the SysInfo program ...

All the driver versions look to be:

Battery : 08.25.05.00

That means those (long, long vicious string of expletives deleted) at dell have been sitting on this update for 16 months.

Are you saying that anyone with an Axim x50 series PDA will be able to upgrade to this A02? I'd think that the update would only work with A01 (ie, the paid version), installed first.

Can anyone tell us whether it works to try to install A02 directly with WM2003SE installed on their PDA (as opposed to installing A01, then A02)?

P

PS - If you're right, AKAJohnDoe, I'm going to have a serious complaint with Dell.

Is there a link for the drivers?
Thanks!

Juraj. You have my apologies as well. I am sorry I doubted your information.

Now, the question is this: Is this a free upgrade for x50v users, or only for x50v users who purchased the WM5 upgrade??

Doug

Since this is exactly the same ROM as the one Juraj had; it can not be installed unless you already have WM05 ROM A01 running on your Axim. So even though the ROM is freely downloadable from Dell, theoretically it can be installed only by people who obtained the previous upgrade in some legal way (bought it from Dell, got it as part of a X50v buying promotion, bought it on eBay, etc.).

This ROM will not install on X50 Ax running 2003/2003SE OS.

This is not an upgrade - it's an update. You still need to shell out $50 for the original CD and upgrade your X50 before you can install this.

CAUTION:exc: :exc: The ROM on the DELL website is NOT exactly the same as what Juraj released. I just compared the two IMG files and they are different!

I would only use the DELL files at this point.
