Home Wireless Connection Troubles...Please help.

For some reason I can travel to my local Starbucks and connect to their wireless system without any trouble. However, at home, I cannot get it to connect. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

I am using an Axim x50v running PPC2003.

Thanks for the link. There was some helpful information there budoesn't resolve my issue.

For some reason, the Axim sees my wireless network (as well as my neighbors) and tries to connect. It connects then disconnects in seconds and keeps doing this but never stays connected.

Have you tried reseting your router?

That has helped me in the past.

Did you specifically look at the Troubleshooting section? In particular, make sure the router is set to mixed mode and check the proxy settings page (the last item in the 'Check these first:' section).

Good point you will probably find your router is only transmitting in G where your axim uses B. Go to the wireless settings and change it to mixed so it transmits in B And G

Well, after some frustration, I lost my wireless completely and had to get online with Dell. They directed me to remove the wireless profile and start a fresh one which now works on my network and the Axim. The only thing I can see that changed was the channel number from 11 (old wireless) to 6 (new wireless). I'm not sure how that affects the Axims ability to link into our home wireless but I guess it did.

Just an FYI, the Axim correctly had the channel 11 in the profile before and now it has 6.

well, if you're on the wrong channel.....

wireless channels are as different as channels, lets say, on your TV. if you're tuned into channel 30, and you wanna be watching whats on 25, you're not gonna see whats on 25. instead, you'll see what's on 30...

but if you REALLY did wanna see whats on 25, you'd have to change channels to 25, otherwise you'd be watching 30.

so if your network is broacasting on 6, and your pda is "watching" 11... well, you're just not gonna see what you wanna, now will you?

You are probably out of range. Signal is weak and will not allow you to remain connected.

How do you find your channel settings on the Axim?
