Wiimote (Wii remote) for gaming on an axim

I have not seen anything posted on this yet. we finally should have a great way to play out games on the pocket pc with the Wiimote. the Wiimote is a bluetooth device that uses motion control. it would also be great for the nes emulators. there is also an attachment controller that will allow you to play all the snes games. the windows driver is well under way.

I just want any programmers to be aware of this thing. I think it could be a huge boost to gaming on the axim.

That would be sweet.

I just got an HDTV with VGA inputs, and I wanna setup a dedicated PC running SNES emulators. I have a controller, but using a Wii controller would be great as well.

Nice link.

doesn't the wiimote use IR leds to detect motion?

I'm pretty sure that the motion (e.g. tilt and acceleration) sensors in the remote use bluetooth, as do the buttons and most of the other features like rumble.

The IR sensor is used for position e.g. using it as a mouse pointer on a screen (or maybe like those "light gun" things for old consoles where you shoot targets on the screen by pointing at them).

Actually, it has accelerometers inside the Wii Remote to sense its relative position and movement, IIRC - the sensor bar gives off infrared light that lets it orient itself within a grid to determine the way the Wiimote is pointing relative to the screen/bar.

The problem HERE is that I'm trying to figure out how to take advantage of a Wiimote for a user interface with an Axim, given that you'd need a sensor bar for full effect... which kinda defeats the purpose of an ultraportable unit like an Axim in the first place. And if you just use it for the gamepad... well, there's Bluetooth ones already out there.

but most of the blue tooth remote reviews get very iffy reviews, and I for one already have the wii remote so there is no extra cost. Trying to get every aspect of the remote working with the axim would be useless but from just a game pad stand point it would be awesome. its great for nes games.
