Hi, I have been reading up a bunch on the Axim x51v and decided to make it my first PPC. I will be using it mostly for work, but obviously with such a toy I would love to get some entertainment out of it. I've already looked up Emulators for WM5.
I am mostly interested in SNES and GBA games which as you know have the "L" and "R" buttons. I was just curious on how practical it is to play these games on the Axim. Lets take mario kart for intance, making a turn and using "L" to jump and then shooting at another driver right after. Is it possible to execute quickly, or do you find you are unable to play some games? If it is difficult, I imagine games such as Street Fighter are almost unplayble! Trying to hit all the keys/combos and what not must be difficult. I figured NES wouldnt be too much of a hassle.
One last thing, which emulators are prefferable to play on the axim landscape mode?
Anyway, My x51v arrived today, around 1:30ish, its now 6. Ive been playing around a bit here and there with it plugged in. Basically I got to compare some GBA games on gameboy, and then on the PPC. I found it easier to play the games vertically (axim on its side). But it was still a pain reaching the "L" and "R" buttons. I am using PocketGBA.
I can get over that problem, but the audio sucks! Any idea's on how to remedy this? I'll keep at it until I find a solution.
Also, one last thing, anyone heard of any Civ games for the PPC? found a few cell phone ones for sale, but nothing for the ppc.
I played mario kart for a bit, but it was difficult, and didn't run all to well anyway. I have to agree, I find it mostly useful for the RPG games. There are a few sidescrollers that will work out well, Ill have to play around more when I have the time. I was really really hoping to get Rock and Roll racing on this system, but I don't think its possible with where the L and R buttons are placed on the screen.
I gotta say though, Age of Empires PPC is fun! Though Tomb Raider for PocketPC isnt fun :(
AOE is one of my favorite games for the PPC as well as Ancient Evil.
I have links to plenty of free games in MY MYPDA section you might like.
Enjoy your new PDA!!!

I am going to check out morph gear tomorrow when I wake up.
I am also going to try out that vikings game in your pda section. I wish there was a civ2 type game out there. looked into freeciv for ppc but it looks like it was abandoned :(
i dont recommend button mashing type games either ,that cant at all be good for the axim, consider using a nintendo wii remote as a control i seen it in a couple of threads but forgot the links but if u do a search ull find them.
I have wanted to try using something like the Freedom Gamepad with which to play all games on my Axim. I am sure it would work for emulator games as well. Anyone tried this before? Or are there better bluetooth gamepads out there for use with PDAs?
when ever I start up a game in Morph-Gear and start a game it then appears really small...
that's the only problem I've been having with my Axim x51v so far.

ANYONE out there know how to fix this???
I'm assuming you downloaded the appropriate module for they rom your playing right? I made that mistake when I first got my 51v... lol
Does the Freedom GamePad work with the Axim? If this thing worked well with the AXIM that would seal a purchase for me. Emulators are quite important to me and are the only thing still making me wonder if I should just go for a PSP rather then a x51v
