Proxy Settings won't Stick

Very (VERY!) new to X51v, and I can detect open wireless networks but cannot connect unless I disable the Proxy Settings. However, turning off the Proxy settings won't stick. I've got everything set up (AFAIK) to only access internet and not Work.

I'm using the A12 ROM...is this a known issue? Is this a Registry problem? help?!?!?

TIA

It will change if you connect to a network that uses a proxy. do you use it at your work? maybe it is their proxy. it only has to be connected and sync'd to make it change so if you throw it on the cradle, bluetooth or a cable that is connected to a pc that uses a proxy and sync then it will set it back every time. you then have to go in and uncheck that box when you need to use it somewhere else. sort of a pain but no one has found a better way around it yet. Thanks, Big Dave (for the welcome and the advice).

I am accessing the unsecured wifi at work. We have open wireless for the guests that come in for meetings, and we have not had to have them set up their laptops for proxy settings. However, no one has come in (until myself) with a wireless PDA. How special, eh?

I do sync on a cradle at home, and didn't know that actually changed the settings. It's very possible that the wifi at work is set up for proxy service. I'll check into it.

One thing that does seem to be working is using Hitchiker...weird, isn't it? I can click to get rid of the proxy check mark all day long and not have it set, yet Hitchiker can connect even with the proxy marked...now I'm beginning to think I've got some other setting wrong and will have to look into it. However, Hitchiker is working, and for right now, that's all that matters.

This site, btw, is terrific! Hope it never goes away.
