Can the X51 connect to a hidden SSID wireless network?

Hi,

I just got the X51. I was having problems connecting this PDA to my work's wireless network. Our wireless network has a hidden SSID and uses WEP with Cisco LEAP authentication. Is the wireless card on this PDA capable of doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, if you connect first, then hide the ssid.

Using Odyssey Client you can add the name of the SSID and set it up using keyboard entries as long as you have all the information.

As long as you know the SSID, you can connect to the AP. You do NOT need to hide it after you connect.

With that said, the Cisco version of LEAP is proprietary to Cisco and you'll have the same problem I have - you can't connect. I've tried using my X50v with version 2 of Odyssey and my manager's X51v with ver 4 of Odyssey and neither will connect with Cisco's proprietary LEAP protocol - which kind of stinks.

There are a number of posts regarding this issue in this forum. Just do a search of cisco + leap + odyssey to find them.

Good luck

Thanks. I'll try to setup a separate VLAN on the wireless AP and see if I could have a different SSID with different authentication method if the issue is really LEAP.
